Once again winning on a long warm (21C) dry summer day, while I watch the oil fired central heating boiler replacement going on ... Mum had her boiler replaced last year with a modern codenzer thing that does not use any less than the old one. If Titanic had been oilfired boilers instead of coal it would have had the thing Mum had, not as big as the red one:¬) |

Just heard that the classified launch from Vandeburg will not go up tonight at 12:23. Yes but you don't need to be on base to watch. In fact the best view is from about 30 miles south of the base. And have lived on a hill over looking the base for about 12 years you don't want to be any closer than about 3 miles from the launch. |

Just heard that the classified launch from Vandeburg will not go up tonight at 12:23. Years ago I was in the press corps for the initial launch of what was then called the Lockheed Launch Vehicle (LLV-1) from the converted SLC-6. I believe they are now called Athena. Felt the engines start before we heard them. Design flaw in the hydraulics caused a destructive abort shortly after launch. Got pics someplace. Most Vandenberg night launches are visible from my front yard in Visalia, Used to be able to view from the backyard, but the neighbors' trees are too tall now. Was out front from 00:30 to 01:00, no go. Try again Friday night/Saturday morning. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

Winning is futile. Beg to differ, M'Lady. Winning may be fleeting, but it is not futile. It has its rewards. Have a pleasant weekend. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |
