Hello from Orlando!

Eric and I are taking a treasured niece on a trip, which happens to include "the Dreaded Disney". For those of you unfamiliar with the Disney Industrial Complex, Disney World is very, very, very family oriented. After a couple days of twirling around in tea cups and waving at princesses, Eric and I got a little silly tonight and well... after our niece went to bed, with all due apologies to David Letterman, we created our very own list of:

Top Ten Ways To Get Banished From The Magic Kingdom

Number 10: Schizophrenic Monologue on the Monorail
Number 9: Flashing From a Flying Carpet
Number 8: Flinging Poo at Pooh
Number 7: Asking Snow White if she would like to meet Winky, the eighth dwarf
Number 6: Offering to give people crabs on the Pirates of the Caribbean
Number 5: Tinkling in a Tea Cup
Number 4: Trying to ring Tinkerbell
Number 3: Jostling Jasmine's Jello Jigglers
Number 2: Space Mounting

And the Number One Way to Get Banished From The Magic Kingdom...

Seeping Booty

Goodnight friends!

My favorite show at Disney is the The Enchanted Tiki Room

Eric (singing gleefully in line): "In the tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki bar..."
Miranda: "No Uncle Eric! It's the Tiki ROOM!!!"
Eric (indignantly): "I've been misled!!!"

We also went on the carousel last night...

Auntie Angela: "A horse is a dangerous animal! I want the kindest, gentlest, most docile nag in the barn."
Uncle Eric: "I certainly didn't end up with that!!!"

(He's a funny man, that Eric. If he gets any funnier, he's going to die alone!)

This stuff has me rolling on the floor! It's almost encouraging me to share some of the funnier moments between Michele and I, but I don't want to be a copycat.

I have always thought of Dizknee land/world/park to be a rather childish sort of place and knot some where i would choose to go,
But with this kind of view. it may be bear able.
Though i will not say which of the bears.
Or what could be done.

Last time I went to Disneyland, I was teaching electrical equipment maintenance at the Naval Training Center in San Diego. Couple of my single colleagues (male and female) and I went up on a Saturday. Inside almost every adult is a little child. We had lots of fun.

I have spoken to many people who have been to Disneyland in both Florida and Paris, and they all say the same thing. it's a monumental financial rip off. It is deliberately targeted at the kids, in such a way that parents are seen as mean if they don't put their hands in their pockets. The kids love it but it costs a fortune.

This is true of almost any faire or festival. Here in Illinois we had two young-child themed parks known as Kiddy Land and Santa's Village that were exactly the same. As is the local County Faire. As is the roller coaster theme park Six Flags Great America. As is the Renaissance Faire that I went to. And it was the same the time I went to Medieval Times.

They all promise you an illusion of a dream world come true while taking you for as much money as they can get from you.

If you go there without expecting such, it's your own fault!

I cherish the memories of experiencing Disneyland Paris with my daughter.

But of course! Constructing and maintainng the illusion is expensive.

Wow, I didn't realize we were going to start assigning blame. I was merely making an observation. Obviously each person has to decide for themselves whether the experience is worth the price, and as such I wouldn't like to assign blame because someone felt that the experience wasn't worth it.

Some of the places I mentioned above were worth the price while others I would consider overpriced for the level of quality offered. Level of quality is of course subjective to my own interpretation.

It certainly is. And it's worth it too if they do a good job of it.
