I know this question has been asked a number of times, I have seen it, but I can't find it with a search.

I have 3 video cards in one computer now and can only get the optimized apps to use 1. What is the key I have to alter or add to get it to use all 3. I thought it was something like use_gpus all or something like that.

TIA

From the Boinc Wiki: Client configuration

<cc_config>
   <options>
       <use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus>
   </options>
</cc_config>

Thanks Claggy, I hate it when you do a reinstall and think you have everything backed up you need.

I have one GPU and it overheats. How can I tell BOINC to use NO GPU's?

The easy way is go to your preferences and disable the GPU use.

There are few others ways.

same file as for all gpus, other option:

<cc_config>
   <options>
        <no_gpus>1</no_gpus>
   </options>
</cc_config>

NB the file should be called cc_config.xml and sit in the BOINC data directory (together with client_state.xml). When using notepad make sure you select 'all files' when saving else you'll get a .txt appended and it won't work.

You can also use TThrottle To run the GPU temperature controlled.
