Good luck getting anything past the gun nuts...err NRA or the conservatives that are supported by them.

Its time for the Americans to reform their gun laws. If you allow everybody in civilian society to carry guns, then you will have war in the civilian community. Crazy people will do crazy things. If it wasn't a gun, it would be other ways to get the job done. The answer isn't more laws or gun control, the answer is trying to identify these people before the fly off the handle and get them the help they need.

Apparently, you are not familiar with the concealed carry laws here in Texas. Good luck getting anything past the gun nuts...err NRA or the conservatives that are supported by them.

Regarding concealed carry (we also have that in Arizona -- state legislators have tried to expand legal concealed carry to allow folks to bring these onto school campus as well) -- while it is not 'legal' in many places, if your intent is to do real damage without concern for consequences - legal or not doesn't matter). I suspect concealed carry to a movie theater isn't legal in Colorado.

Most states with conceal and carry laws are very very strict. I live in one of the bluest states in this country, and conceal and carry is allowed with a permit. Go after the offender, not guns. ____________ -Dave #2

I can't find the report but apparently when Mom was told, she said you have the right person. So someone knew he was a fruitcake. Now the real headline should be why was a known fruitcake out on the street. Why aren't shrinks required to report fruitcakes to the ATF so they can't buy guns? A gun isn't the problem, a fruitcake on the loose is the problem.

Its time for the Americans to reform their gun laws. If you allow everybody in civilian society to carry guns, then you will have war in the civilian community. There's absolute ignorance talking. Gun laws do absolutely nothing to keep guns out of the hands of criminals who really want them. I doubt the gunman had a permit for his AR-15. Nor did he have permits to boobytrap his apartment with explosives. And you think some words added to the criminal code would've have stopped this? Absolute ignorance. Evil is evil and this guy is it. I hope Colorado has the death penalty. ____________

Police said they recovered a Glock pistol, one Remington shotgun, and one Smith and Wesson AR-15 Type assault weapon in the theater. They found another Glock pistol in the suspect’s car, Oates said.

BarryAZ Arizona state legislators have tried to expand legal concealed carry to allow folks to bring these onto school campus as well COLLEGE campus's. NOT elementary or high schools... Quit doing what MSNBC does. For that matter, if you can purchase a gun, and don't care, you can conceal carry it anywhere. Of course you can. You can conceal what ever contraband you wish to conceal. But then you accept the risk of being sentenced to a federal prison. There's a reason there's a process in order to be able to carry a concealed weapon. When you go through the process, you are able to boldly proclaim to a police officer, "Why yes officer, I have a loaded concealed weapon on me. It is located ..." and not worry about being jacked up and spending time in prison. You see, as a matter of fact, you actually put the police officer in a more relaxed state when you present your driver's license AND a concealed carry permit. This immediately demonstrates to the police officer that you are not a convicted felon and you have had some training on how to safely handle a weapon. From his perspective, chances are pretty low that you are going to pull your weapon and point it at him over his claim that you were doing more than 10% over the speed limit. Racheal Maddow had a cow when she found out that "in Texas," a concealed hand gun license is considered an acceptable form of identification when you go to the voting polls. From the way she presented this, it means only crazed murderous outlaws will be allowed to vote if the "voter ID" law is ever able to make it past the law suits. In reality, showing a concealed hand gun license means you are probably more qualified to vote than just about any other form of government issued identification card. And no, while there will be an outcry about gun control -- nothing will happen. Well, then, thank GOD. Because if you want to be consistent, then we'll have to outlaw hammers and drills also. Because hammers and drills are tools, which if used improperly, also cause identically the same kind of damage. In order to show I'm here for the genuine exchange of information in the hopes of enlightening us all I must thank you Ex, Gary and misfit for pointing to what the real issue is. Unfortunately, there will always be some one who smokes "bath salts" and does something absolutely insane. Concealed weapon (real video) Concealed weapon humor If a bad guy knows there's a low chance of concealed weapons in the area, the better he'll feel about getting away. If a bad guy believes there's a chance of concealed weapons in the area, he'll think twice and probably make the right choice. Too bad nobody in the theater was legally carrying. He most likely could have reduced the damage even if all he did was fire and miss. As soon as James Holmes (neuroscience Ph.D. student) realized someone was shooting back, he probably would have fled. But we'll never know.

Apparently, you are not familiar with the concealed carry laws here in Texas. I am very familiar with the law and nothing you said differs with what I said. Any fool can sit through a whole 8 hours of training and still be nuts. I'd find it difficult to go anywhere where you could actually carry a concealed weapon in Texas. No hospital, clinic, Mall, gov't office(local state and federal), most if not all restaurants, convenience stores, super markets, department stores, gas stations all have signs posted that concealed weapons are not allowed on the premises. Doing so will get you arrested. Seems you'd actually have to search for a place that you could wear a concealed weapon other than a shooting range, your residence, your vehicle, or your local militia barracks/End of the world cult compound. In the off chance you find a place mentioned above that doesn't have the placard then the facility is either new and/or has neglected to post their sign in a timely manner ____________ Proud member of TSWB. skildude I'd find it difficult to go anywhere where you could actually carry a concealed weapon in Texas Maybe in your part of Texas... Like probably downtown <name a large crowded metropolitan area in Texas>. It's hard to find a place where I can't carry in my part of Texas. And by the way, I don't know where you got your list, but according to Texas state law: school or educational institution polling place on the day of an election government court or offices utilized by the court racetrack secured area of an airport within 1,000 feet of Texas Department of Criminal Justice Any place whose business is 51% or more to serve alcohol for consumption on those premises high school, collegiate, or professional sporting event correctional facility nursing home amusement park place of religious worship And any place conspicuously displaying the legally defined placard saying no weapons allowed It's a good thing for me to review this list occasionally. Thank you.
