BOINC disappearing...

I successfully activated my account, downloaded & installed BOINC, then started running. All no problem.

Then this afternoon we had a short problem with our proxy server, during which time the BOINC client tried unsuccessfully to download something. After the proxy problems were fixed, the downloads continued to be unsuccessful.

Now the first WU has completed, and BOINC just went away. When I start it manually from the Start menu, it opens, says "Starting upload of...", then immediately disappears.

What can I do to get it back running?

I believe that the problem is a bug in boinc proxy communication.

I suggest you try another proxy. A sample can be found here.

Thanks for the replies. Here is some additional information (from the stderr.txt file):

Reason: Access Violation (0xc0000005) at address 0x00401D68 write attempt to address 0x73614220

But for now I will try the suggested reinstallation. (Can't change anything with the proxy; that's the way it is. Also, it worked for the initial download.)

Tried the following:
1) reinstall BOINC over the existing installation
-> problem continues

2a) uninstall BOINC
2b) reinstall BOINC
-> problem continues

3a) uninstall BOINC
3b) delete Program Files\\BOINC folder
3c) reboot Windows
3d) reinstall BOINC
-> problem resolved! It is now processing the newly downloaded WU.

A few minutes ago the first WU completed. There was no problem with the proxy server this time. But BOINC nevertheless disappeared again. Here are the last few lines from stdout.txt:
