I'm sorry I should know better than this creating a new thread for an obvious question but why have all 3 of my machines refused to successfully download any proper cache of work over the past 48 hours? No changes have been made, the crickets seem ok, I'm on 7-day cache, not set to NNT accidentally......... Jst saying not-requesting-new-tasks all the time. Like the DCF server-side's got corrupted for me.

Jst saying not-requesting-new-tasks all the time. Like the DCF server-side's got corrupted for me. When it's saying not-requesting-new-tasks all the time, it's a client thing, nothing to do with the server. Do you have (accidently) set No new tasks? If not, are you using local or online preferences to set your cache? If you are tweaking online and have ever saved local preferences, they'll override your online settings. Gruß, Gundolf

Do you have any tasks suspended or running in high priority? Either of these will prevent you from downloading new tasks.

Like the DCF server-side's got corrupted for me. I'm getting nearly the same. Download error after download error. 7/16/2012 3:15:34 PM | SETI@home | Temporarily failed download of 16oc10aa.5148.5797.3.10.145: transient HTTP error 7/16/2012 3:15:34 PM | SETI@home | Backing off 59 min 35 sec on download of 16oc10aa.5148.5797.3.10.145 7/16/2012 3:15:38 PM | | Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down. Been going on for days...it's APITA. I haven't changed anything either. I'm about ready to go on strike and just set no new tasks.

I did have 1 download error last week... Otherwise my transfer queues are pretty clean with speeds around 130k.

Have you tried using a proxy server? Without it was not able to download enough even for my low-end machines, with a proxy I almost don't get any HTTP errors at all, even if the downloads are still slow.

Tried one I put in months ago. I shouldn't need to keep doing that though. Flowing a little better now. Still no explanation. Annoying when it's not understood. It hurts RAC + overall yearly goal.

Thanks to Juan for http://www.freeproxylists.net/ in the fast-downloads thread - starting to experiment now.

Here's a theory: I wonder if you get a different set of WUs going through a proxy than you would if you didn't...................

Here's a theory: I wonder if you get a different set of WUs going through a proxy than you would if you didn't................... Possible for sure, since it might take a little longer (or shorter) to get the connection to the scheduler and you might get your set before (or after) another computer. ____________ .

My boxes connect fine I just get "not downloading new work". I'm down to two day's worth for my CUDA cards.

I did have 1 download error last week... Otherwise my transfer queues are pretty clean with speeds around 130k. Satellite connections are subject to disruption from solar flares. Been quite a few of them the last week or so. Some of the cable TV channels have had issues, too. ____________ Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired

I did have 1 download error last week... Otherwise my transfer queues are pretty clean with speeds around 130k. Well whatever the issue was....the errors stopped about 6 hours ago. All the downloads that were hung-up came through and then some. I got around 2 thousand tasks, but I could still use another couple more to get back to where I would like to be. Like 1800 more Cuda tasks for one of my I7's. The 172 it's chewing on now will keep it till supper time today if it's lucky. With all the power outages and such I like a weeks worth a work in the cashe at all times.

I did have 1 download error last week... Otherwise my transfer queues are pretty clean with speeds around 130k. Likely your problems stopped when AP's run out of work to send out. ;) While AP's are being sent out the link is always full of errors and I think that there must be some way of limiting the amount of AP's being sent out at any one time instead of just them being dumped into the system all in 1 massive go until the tapes run out (maybe reducing the AP splitters down to 2 would help). Cheers. ____________
