John, this is why Gary established this thread. Post away to your hearts content.
By the way, I am glad you found your way back. Life is to short to hold cruches.

I can see why people get confused/upset in the Word Link. I saw "commander" and was about to post "salamander" when I relized that 99.99% of the people in the world have never heard of the funky little store of that name here in my home town. It is right next door to the Frilly Lizard. Another word link locals would get, but everybody else might miss.

If you would have posted Salamander, I would have replied with Shoes.
Not sure if the brand still exists.

Yes it does.

I guessed it was a cabbage a while back but couldn't quite picture a "root cabbage" :-))

I've asked for comments, and we will see what the general consensus is. I don't want anyone to feel peeved over a simple game.

I think anything growing above the ground is not a "root" vegetable.
Cabbage and Lettuce: not root vegetables but leafy greens. Peas, corn, not in either category..

Root vegetables would be potatoes, carrots, yams, anything else that has to be dug out of the ground. I know carrots stick up a little but.. for the most part what you eat is under ground.

And I have absolutely no dispute with who was given the win.. I was just whimpering that it was gonna be a Looooong time before an answer was given with a hint of being a root vegetable ;) whew!

The mystery landscape game answer was an Esker near the Foucault River in Salluit, northern Quebec and the other one was a pix of Olympus Mons on Mars taken from ground level.
Some what late I guess.

Neither did I, but I think some people play as "sounds like"!
