Just noticed - when you come back from the post reply screen the order is set to "newest first", even when you had "oldest first" set as your default. Oh you guys haven't heard? This is the newest version of Café Games, its called get your settings right. :) I have been playing it since the start of the post. I still say the page numbers are screwed up, the controls in the account settings only work on posts, not on the page order of threads, which is backwards and needs fixing... the 1st page should be on the right somewhere, the latest page should be on the left, then the 1st post will always be on the 1st page of a thread... Very interesting: 8053 50 162 1 · 2 · 3 · 4 . . . 162 · Next Shows at the top of the cafe. I'm guessing that is 8053 topics, display 50 topics a page, there are 162 pages and then the links to the pages Same type of thing at the top of each thread but post counts. Im like a few others in here who like to read the posts from oldest to newest from the top down. To me it makes it easier to catch up on a thread I might have not read for a few days. And like most I have set my preferences for 500, All though I see some threads are over 600 now. I never much liked page numbers. They are fine if they are small but Ive seen some in other sites that are over 75 pages. [/quote] Old James |

One thing i realy would like to see displayed in `pages` Is the `Tasks` pages, It would speed up working through (for instance) pending tasks by not having to go through fifty pages of pending tasks that i have one after the other. The ability to jump to the oldest and work back up would be very good, and is the way i usualy look through them. It is the oldest that are of most `interest` =1495 tasks and riseing, groan :( |

Also changing the sort order after making a post, if the user has oldest first specified, is very confusing. It is sort of like the way a door opening changing each time you go through it and I don't mean one of those double hinged doors. Such as the ones you see used in food service areas. Didn't you get the memo about the new cover page for the TPS reports? I do so every chance I get. About 13 years ago one of my external beta sites was owned by a guy named Dave. So I had the developer add that sound clip to the software whenever he preformed a specific function. As the developer and I left that company around the same time I imagine it may still be in there. I read books from the top of the page to the bottom, So why do i have to read forums from the bottom to the top. Cos if i set it to `top down` it keeps resetting to `bottoms up` |

I read books from the top of the page to the bottom, Only very temporarily after you post. Go back a couple of pages and it will be OK again. BOINC WIKI |
