Sorry, not good enough for me. Halal should be made illegal in the UK, end of story. Let those that wish to practise it go to other countries where it is custom and practice. It is NOT so in the UK, and should never be.

I agree, as part of my wider belief that religion per se is outmoded and should have no place in modern, progressive society.

If we are ever up as candidates for inclusion in any sort of galactic membership group our food chaises may very well be a deciding factor. It may be difficult to look a very advanced sunflower, or prawn like creature in the eyes (Or, whatever.) and attempt to justify our dietary choices as hold over’s from our earlier evolutionary past.

We're omnivores by nature, our teeth, ancestors, and 'relatives' prove that. I have no problem eating any meat, because I know if I was hungry I would hunt meat with my own hands.

I am not a fan of eating animals that have lived their life (or part of their life) in tortuous misery, beyond being put to death.

Therefore, lobster is ok in my book, but foi gras no way. Veal is another thing I won't touch and has led to funny family situations and arguments with my wifey who loves veal.

If no-one ate veal they wouldn't produce it. But the problem is that many thousands of veal calves are slaughtered each year because there is no market for them. Unless a cow produces milk farmers don't want them.

I also pay considerably extra for free range eggs.

Why don't they just let it grow as normal then slaughter it for beef?

My oldest should see this. She's really into ducks. She has a duck bear she always sleeps with, she calls it "Tieneke"

LadyL is definitively not posting.

We love Freudian slips here at Seti HQ. Certain postage stamps are issued as Definitives. We think she meant definitely, then again she may be sneakier than all of us.

Interesting. One of the cases where the english has two words where the german has only one.
