I will start with a photograph I took a few weeks ago in Iron Bridge. The nesting swan was just a few feet from a walkway. Apparently she was enjoying the largess of passersby for a living.

I never had gotten too deeply into photography. So I cannot "critique". However I have dabbled a little.

This is the closest to "cool" I ever took.

The foreground seems a bit underexposed. I can't quite tell if it is half constructed, or ready for the wrecking ball.

An abandonment. Totally ready for a wrecking ball. Piece of history. "Physical Culture Hotel" was granted money for renovation about 5 years ago apparently. Maybe it will be used again.

Nature pictures are always awesome when you can't see any man made items in my opinion. The is a pleasing picture to look at for sure.

I think its quite awesome myself, I like the fact that you decided to do B&W and the lighting is perfect to set an abstract mood.

Thank you. Looking at it now, I wish my camera had been more centered and straight. It appears I was to the left, with the camera pointing slightly right to center the end of the hallway. Hmm.

And I always liked black and white for the purposes of pictures like this where my goal was "desolation".

I have one for the thread. I was trying to capture depth and still haven't decided if I like it or not.

Usually having everything in focus works better for landscape photography.

For depth the usual would to have had the focus on the tree in the middle, with both the foreground and background going out. The subject matter here really doesn't lend itself to depth as you don't have anything that is a strong subject to stand out in depth from the rest of the photo. Think of an insect on a blade of grass in a field where the insect and blade it is on are sharp and the rest blurs. Another might be a shot up a tall building where one window is open and the emphasis is placed on that window.

Yes, but those are not typical landscapes.

Those are more akin to a flower or portrait in which a blurred background accents the main object.

Very Nice, I bet it the colors would have stood out much more if it weren't cloudy.

How many years ago and how is it stored? Looks like it is starting to fade.

If the day is somewhat cloudy, the colors can look pretty much like that. Matches my memory anyway.

That would be a digital image, taken by a 6MP camera.

And yes it was a cloudy day if I remember correctly.

Interesting, then the white balance must have been for sun light and not cloud.

Don't get me wrong, it is still an awesome piece. Very nice.
