These were the forts to protect from the French?


They were insisted upon by the French to prevent the Americans from expanding westward. The Americans were paying the taxes to pay for the forts and the Garissons.

In relation to cars, most people know that MG stands for Morris Garages, and that BMW stands for Bayerische Motoren Werke (Bavarian Motor Works). But what about Lexus?

The name Lexus is a word that is intended to indicate the nature of the luxury vehicles.

I thought the Japanese car manufacturers were very careful to pick brand names that didn't mean anything, in any language. A Lexus is only a Lexus, like a Camry is only a Camry.
