SETI Live?

No. I mean a method that is actually using amateur equipment for collecting data instead of searching the data someone else has collected with professional equipment.

Optical seti is linking multiple telescopes together to form a very large baseline array. Some of these telescopes are owned by amateurs.

That's right! Optical SETI was what I was looking for. I samewhat expected that people might get the term "amateur" wrong. It doesn't mean that they just switch on their computer and do a bit SETI for fun but rather that they do it in their free time and are willing to spend some thousand dollars for their hobby (i.e. amateurs don't get aby funding)

On this page I found detailed calculations about what type of alien signals might be detected that way, instructions how to build an amateur optical SETI receiver and a cost estimation for the equipment needed.

PM on the way

Recently I found a replica of the earliest steam locomotive. It is very close to where it was originally developed. Where was this location?

Nope. Sort of the right area of the world though.

Festinniog?

No.

It is not in Wales.

Sorry about the delay, but I have been in a place where there is no internet connection easily available.

I was visiting England and discovered this place near the place that started the industrial revolution.

Sorry about the delay, I went on a short vacation in the middle and sort of forgot.

Not terribly. It is a bit more than 2 hours of driving.

I did not visit anywhere in Wales.

National Waterfront Museum Swansea.

Loco

Nope. I was in England, not in Wales.

It is a replica of the prototype for the locomotive that actually ended up being used for the first time.

It is by the same person that made the one featured ad the National Waterfront Museum in Swansea.

The area features the first of a particular type of bridge, and is named after that bridge.

Very good. Coalbrookdale is a short hike from Iron Bridge (most people drive though).

Okey Dokey.

This one might be a little abstract.

I learned yesterday that something taught to all school children is completely incorrect. It concerns Physics. What is it?
