Message 1255881 - Posted: 5 Jul 2012, 13:10:27 UTC - in response to Message 1255867.

I will take your points in the order that you raised them.

For somebody that starts threads & then do not contribute to them except remind people that they're going off topic, that comment is laughable.

Some threads that I have started have attracted little interest, therefore I have simply let them die off. Others have a number of people happily chatting away, and do not need any extra input from me. Some sadly, have denigrated into bad temper, and I have chosen to withdraw and leave others to it. I am very flexible for discussions to take off tangentially, provided that they return to the core discussion at some point. I rarely ask for threads to be closed.

Secondly, I do not post inane comments - I provide links to valid reports accompanied by my sarcastic/humorous/serious remarks depending on the link concerned.

The use of the word inane is your choice. The word Muppet was coined by Jim Henson and was a combination of Marionette and puppet. In urban slang it is defined as

A person who defies explanation with regard to common sense and logic, exhibiting an air of confidence that is mutually exclusive to that of their accomplishments or ability.

Senior politicians would not get to the position they have without being able to do their job. The fact that you disagree with their policies, or the views that they hold, does not necessarily mean that they are incompetent at it. Fail - where has it been said I disagree with their policies?

Thirdly, each post is accompanied by a serious link with regards to the thread topic, there have been numerous occasions where you totally ignored the link & it's seriousness & just condemned my comments.

It is difficult to enter into meaningful dialogue when it comes across that the poster just wants to be facetious.Fail, go back & re-read some of your replies on my threads

Fourthly, you seem to be defending the establishment, with very little comments on the negative side, always stating that not all MP's are as "useless muppets" as I so famously state. I know that is true, bur are those MP's front facing & making continuous statements which are changed within hours/days weeks because matters are not going their way?

Yes I do defend the establishment, because I think that generally speaking they get it right most of the time, but they always get very short thrift around these boards. It seems to me that the only people that bother to post here are those that want to complain about things. I therefore think it is important for the readers of these threads to get a balanced viewpoint. If I didn't provide that, people in other parts of the world would think the UK is 10 times worse that it actually is.Fail - where do I show complaints against all mp's?

No they don't, unfortunately, as the Banking/Euro/Media scandals are showing, what is there to defend?

Not very much from what I can see so far, as I have already said elsewhere.Fail - so this is something that people sit back on & accept?

It's all right for "established" comedians/news readers etc to pass these comments/remarks but I'm not?

You are not an established comedian as far as I'm aware, you are an ordinary poster who is supposed to be contributing serious and meaningful comments to a Political thread. If you have aspirations in that area, I suggest that this is not the place to practice auditions.Fail - again, go back & re-read some of your posts

Thanks again for confirming that it's your way or the highway. So freedom of speech needs to be forbidden in "your" version of the establishment then?

You and any other poster have freedom of speech on these forums and boards, consistent within the published rules. You have to accept though that other people will not always agree with your point of view.Fail - never asked for agreement, just their views

That is what they do, and what they have done. The fact that you don't like what they say or agree with it, is no good reason for name calling.

But she won't be a British Maggie will she? Thatcher if she were in power today would give Germany & Europe short thrift, If the Mekon turns out to be as good, woe betide us!

For an example of name calling I would refer you to your recent remarks about Nick Clegg which I thought were inappropriate in the extreme.Fail - which came first, the chicken or the egg?

I have a white kettle, what colour is yours?

A glass globe one at present, but I did have a dark grey one once. I have nicknamed Ms Merkel the Mekon, which is a fairly obvious play upon the first two letters of her name, and her modus operandi is not dissimilar to the Dan Dare character. I call the new French President Hollandaise Sauce (©chris s) as it is traditional for the English to lampoon French Presidents. Even the Mail columnist Richard Littlejohn refers to Mr Cameron as "Call me Dave".

That is a bit of satire and lampooning, that is subtly different from calling people incompetent and ridiculing them, just because you don't agree with them (See muppet definition above)You give the impression that that anyone who does not come from a manual worker background has nothing worthwhile to offer, particularly in politics. I would therefore refer you to this site that has 110 Nobel prize winners from Oxbridge, and 44 UK Prime Ministers.Big fail as all the scandals over the past 4 years have shown

I have responded to your comments and you are entitled to your right of reply. After that I will close the thread and take it off line if you wish to pursue it further. There is no point in boring everyone else.
Major fail! your offline comments are insulting

The decision to scrap the Ark Royal and the Harriers was, and remains, the most bone headed, incompetent, and quite frankly, short sighted decision possible. I will always hold Cameron and Hammond personally responsible for that.

You have stated valid points but went about answering them in the wrong way. what you should have done is to post links/reports that would have offset the "negative" views. You failed to do this in that you started attacking the poster rather than the reports.

So your holding Cameron & Hammond personally responsible? What, nobody else can? Or is it the way others hold them responsible that you find insulting?

The major problem with our government over the past 20 years or more is that, unlike the past, there is no longer any checks & balances in place which has led to the current state of affairs.

Until those are put back in place, we will continue to see "revelations" like these....Media/Expenses/Euro/Banking Scandals which leaves the "man in the street" with little or no hope.

Your "class" distinctions are showing through - "Manual workers"? Everyone is a manual worker as one has to use one's brain & hands to work, that is, unless one is born with a silver spoon in one's mouth & never worked a day in their life.
