Hi,

I just installed the BOINC Manager and wanted to get started. It successfully downloaded some work, but if I allow it to process it, the program screen (which I believe is supposed to be a screensaver type thing) IMMEDIATELY comes up and will not go away unless I am actively moving the mouse. If I stop for even a quarter of a second, it comes back up. There is hardly even enough time for me to click on a program shortcut before the seti screen comes back up. In short, it makes the computer effectively useless for anything but itself.

I have looked around in the online and program options and do not see any way to change this . . . must be missing something. Please help.

Thanks.

The screen saver is controlled by the OS, not the program. Likely your screen saver has defaulted to a 1 minute timeout (the smallest amount of time a screen saver can be set for).

Right click on any open area of your desktop and go to Personalize. Then in the bottom right hand corner of that window is "Screen saver", click on that. On the Screen Saver Settings page, you'll see where you can select which screen saver to use (BOINC is likely the active screen saver). Underneath that you'll see a "Wait:" box with a time box. Increase that to whatever you prefer. 10 to 20 minutes is usually sufficient for most people.

Click OK when done and close out of the other windows. The screen saver shouldn't pop up so often now.
