Happy 4th of July all Americans. I may not always agree with American policies, but I do want America to prosper and be a positive force in the world.

Well that made me smile.... A lot to be honest! Thanks for the well wishes!

+1 Me too.

Don't light any fireworks where you shouldn't. Enjoy the professional displays if you can't light your own.

Their banned in the park, so none here to worry about, by order of Park Management, nearby Barstow though allows fireworks now.

They are illegal here, however some of the neighbors light them off anyway.

Here in the desert everything is tinder dry, so it would be a bad thing, but still last year I could see bottle rockets being shot off behind the park somewhere.

Yep. It was not long ago that some idiot in NM lighted a multi thousand acre fire with a 4th celebration.

If it is dry in your area right now, fireworks can be a very bad thing.

Fortunately the hills here have no brush or trees on them, just bare rock, but then the area is baked...

Well where I am at in Arizona we have been having such a long drought (imagine that) and the desert is SO dry that fireworks are illegal or just down right frowned upon. In fact every recreational area you go this is posted, which really just ruins the day for fun in the sun!

A single firework is really not supposed to do that.

Well there were fireworks here outside the park in 2 spots and out beyond Yermo going towards Las Vegas there was some illegal aerial fireworks that only cities/counties would do, as there aren't any cities beyond Yermo, Las Vegas is too far away so it wasn't them, plus in the opposite direction I could see and sometimes hear fireworks shot off above Barstow 12.5 miles away, so within a 12.5 mile radius there was quite a show to be had.

That was the 15 second blast, originally the fireworks there was supposed to have lasted for 15 minutes, supposedly a malfunction happened, but at least no one was hurt.

Glad that no one was hurt. Must have been the most interesting fireworks show for a while though.
