With all ya geeks and burnouts commenting, it gave me the insight with all your creative posts to point out an aspect that none of you attempted to point out.

Always gonna be that idiot who is complacent about the side effects of dangerous activities. Why do you think there is a thing called Russian Roulette? Cause it is in our nature.

Viruses are made for defective products which were deliberately designed to fail, Sorry, I can't agree with this premise at all. Viruses are nothing more than computer programs that are designed to cause havok on the system for which the virus was written (it is for this reason that the possibility of saving mankind by giving the alien mothership a "cold" a la Independence Day is completely laughable without hundreds of scientists studying the CPU and OS architecture of the target system). All systems designed by imperfect beings have imperfections in their design. It is up to a good code writer to find those flaws and take advantage of them in code written as a virus. This can happen to any system - not just products that are "deliberately designed to fail". Besides, we spend money to run this software on our computer in electricity costs, and we don't benefit from it in any way as the people who use our computers hold the discoveries in patent to themselves, to be locked away until they see the best financially viable opportunity to release the technology or decide to educate us. Not true. There are guidelines in place to give credit to all participants who make the discovery. No one is going to patent any discoveries. By the way, Men In Black was just a fictional movie. Or that any SETI discovery be censored from public eyes with the deliberately implanted idea that it is dangerous or harmful. hmm.. I am sure you guys can continue from where I left off as I am sure you know where I am going with this one. Straw man argument. Who is going to do the shielding? And how long can they keep the facade up? How many people would need to be involved to keep it a secret? The more people that know the secret, the larger the chance that the secret comes out. Very high probability that it won't happen that way at all, but I do note that it is interesting how many people think this way.

I've just got an alert from ET Antivirus 2013 telling me my system is infected. They only want fifty klaygaars for a twenty leeptoo licence, sounds like a bargain :) If it sounds too good to be true it probably is :-)) If you listen to the musicplayer backwards there are hidden messages in it, I am shure i heard something . . . . . Is Beatle Paul still dead? So really, a Virus fell through a Wormhole in Space and recorded itself on a 360k floppy in the 1970s in a garage on a computer belonging to a couple of dropouts from Harvard who said "wow, we could make millions if we sold this rubbish"? Well, that explains everything then, Windows is an ET Virus ROTFLMAO !!!

No, it just fell from a paralell universe and was baked into the silicon wafers of which CPUs and GPUs are made ;-)

The article was extremely interesting (almost as much as this thread) but of course is speculation as, not having made CONTACT, we have no facts as to what any ET is interested in or capable of. But speculation is great in that it gets us to think and look in different directions. Of course the speculation was clearly based on facts we do have here on Earth. But what about that contest that was recently advertised on TV about ordinary people being allowed to broadcast their own messages into space? Could that be like putting a target on our heads?

From what I read on an Italian newspaper, this messaging from Arecibo in the direction of the source of the Wov! signal is sponsored by the National Geographic Society. Are they looking for subscribers? Tullio ____________

Viruses are made for defective products which were deliberately designed to fail, Yeah, I always thought that was a bit too easy. In fact, ludicrously so. All systems designed by imperfect beings have imperfections in their design. It is up to a good code writer to find those flaws and take advantage of them in code written as a virus. This can happen to any system - not just products that are "deliberately designed to fail". He is implying collusion between Microsoft (and to a lesser degree, other OS developers) and antivirus developers. I think that if such were occurring, the Justice Department would have taken action by now. Before you say they're in on it too, also consider all the various European Justice Ministries that have repeatedly gone after MS for things our DoJ hasn't. Besides, Microsoft Security Essentials is a free product. Besides, we spend money to run this software on our computer in electricity costs, and we don't benefit from it in any way as the people who use our computers hold the discoveries in patent to themselves, to be locked away until they see the best financially viable opportunity to release the technology or decide to educate us. Not in this project anyway. I avoid some Boinc projects just because the results could end up being patented for profit. By the way, Men In Black was just a fictional movie. But.. but... but.. you mean Rodman and Gingrich aren't aliens??? Or that any SETI discovery be censored from public eyes with the deliberately implanted idea that it is dangerous or harmful. hmm.. I am sure you guys can continue from where I left off as I am sure you know where I am going with this one. The writers of Stargate: SG1 got pretty good mileage out of the "go ahead and tell anyone you want, who will believe you?" ploy. ____________ David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri.

If I were an ALIEN, infection with an TROJAN would make much more sense since these are created to return INFORMATION of any kind.
