There's supposed to be a big announcement from Cern next week. Does the Higgs boson exist?

Some early reporting last month stated that they possibly had found it, we're
just waiting for confirmation of this now....cross fingers and hope they have.

I second that one Nick. Seems they believe they have the mathematical proof and were just waiting for further confirmation.

So yes it's safe to assume they are about to announce it's proven existence.

Then I'll be out of work at Test4Theory@home. No gravitational waves at Einstein@home, so we're looking for pulsars. No ET here, of course. The last frontier is climate modeling at climateprediction.net. Very extended deadlines.

I'm sure that whichever way the announcement goes there will be extended debate over the validity of the data for quite a while. Such is the nature of scientific discoveries.

They had a 3 sigma level of certainty and were waiting for more data and analysis to reach 5 sigma before announcing the Higg's existence.

There is no Higgs Boson! God told me!

The people at CERN would have more success if they searched for unicorn's, they might actually find one!

As a side note; I visited CERN just before they started up the LHC. I was in Geneva at the BOINC workshop with David Anderson. It was back in 2008 or 2009. One of the physicists at CERN took us on a trip down inside the LHC itself. Massive machine, very impressive when your standing inside it.

To be honest, you sound a bit delusional. So many of your posts are about God telling you things, and frankly it's getting silly.

Duane,
Which bit do you have difficulty with, maybe i can help you to understand?
1. I believe in God.
2. There is no Higgs boson
3. I went on trip to Geneva to a computing conference and visited the LHC?

That all seems straight forward to me.

Johnny, what are you going to say about the Higgs in a few days when it's announced that it exists?

Ex,
I 100% stand over my statement that the Higgs Boson DOES NOT exist!! I firmly stand over that statement! I'm that confident!

Even if CERN do announce that the Higgs Boson DOES exist, i still stand over my statement. If they announce that the Higgs boson exists, within a year or two, brand new scientific evidence will emerge proving 100% that it does not exist.

But either way, this is what i expect they will announce;
1. They will announce that they have NOT found evidence for the Higgs Boson within the current energy range that they explored. But they should say that they can rule out the Higgs Boson in that particular energy range.

2. So they don't cut their own throat as regards funding, they might say that they possibly need to build a bigger machine to explore much higher energy. Scientists always want more funding to build bigger machines.

3. They still have not run the LHC at 14 TEV, which is what the machine is rated for. So they could go with a "wait and see" policy that maybe the Higgs will turn up in 2 or 3 years time when they do eventually get the machine running at 14 TEV.

But to summarise my statement again. There is no Higgs Boson, and i stand firmly by that claim. I know this from translations of the ancient book i have been working on translating. The book was hand-written by God himself.

Mark my words, right here and now, there is a very big error sitting at the very fundamental root of all physics. And its going to come out very soon. Once this error or mistake is discovered, the world as we know it is going to change. We will be entering the world of new science and new physics. An age of aeroplanes with NO wings. We, the human race, will be building our own UFO's, and everyone will be able to have one, just like you buy a car today!

Mark my words, you don't need wings on an aircraft to make it fly if you truly know the root of all physics.

John.

Rumours say that they have 5 sigma confidence on the Higgs boson. Scientific American says that they might have found also evidence on the inflaton, which caused the inflation of the universe after the Big Bang. I am not sure about this but I believe they will announce the Higgs result. I am running LHC@home which is project leading to improve the particle orbits in the LHC upgrading.

I'm glad someone else made this post. I came close last night after John's proclamation. To me anyone claiming to get answers to scientific questions straight from god has issues.

Perhaps it is we ourselves that are the source of his book!

A certain phrase comes to mind of:

"Oh My God!"
