One of the reasons why I don't like fundamentalist religious organisation is for things like this.

Loch Ness Monster real in biology textbook

The truth about the photograph used in the Biology book refered to can be seen in Loch Ness Monster, Surgeon's Photograph

One has to wonder if apathy or ingnorance was in place to allow such ignorance to be introduced to students as science

Correct me if I'm wrong Chris, but I seem to recall the navy doing an extensive sonar scan of the lake.

Most people do Skil. Sonar is different from radar. There is definitely something there, but we can't seem to find out what is is.

though teaching the presense of an animal yet to be actually verifiably photographed or found is a bit of hookum. You may as we teach about the yeti and sasquatch as far as that goes

Oh Gawd, it's turning into one of those threads again ....

Statement

I'm not fussed one way or another whether there is or there isn't anything in Loch Ness. I really don't give an tinkers cuss one way or the other. I happen to think there is, but I couldn't care less if there isn't.

OK?

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

I bet Robert Ballard didn't think that what "something large" showed up on the sonar just before he found the Titanic. So far I can't see any reference to a "Loch Ness Monster" when sonar was mentioned.

Don't forget that naval personnel are not dumbo's & modern sonar is pretty damned efficient.

I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

Good links Bobby. Seems that I must be mistaken then. Oh well :-)

no you're not mistaken - the naval sonar survey did take place & they detected something - no one said anything about "Nessie" - Neither did Chris or I.

And if rumors have it correctly, there is assumed to be lying a UFO some 90 meters in diameter (or was it at a depth of 90 meters, perhaps) at the bottom of the sea separating the Nordic countries from the rest of Europe.

What is the official "English name" for this part of the Atlantic ocean stretching in between the countries? It ends up at the borders between Sweden and Finland in the north and also the border between Finland and Russia in the east and it is not a small lake.

I went to Loch Ness several years ago on one of those rare ventures called
a holiday. What struck me most was that I saw no one actually monitoring the
Loch looking out for Nesse. Nice place Scotland, especially around the West
coast side.
