Merry Christmas,

I am experiencing a small issue and was wondering is someone with more knowledge about this stuff than \I could help me, if it's needed.

Here is a quick shot of my comp;

It is a Toshiba Satallite model 770, that is not allowing the Seti application to recognise the installed Nvidia 525m GPU.

Here's some of the needed gpu info;

Here is a copy of my event log;

My preferences are set to default values with the exception of the memory available which I set to 20 gig and hit the ok tab. I run a dual fan cooling tray under the laptop, the reason for the cool operating temps. The Nvidia drivers are up to date with a clean install. If someone finds a dirX report useful, let me know, I can have one available to post here rather quickly.

It is possible I cannot run the Seti application with a 525 card? Could I have made an error installing the program? Could I have missed something, and if so, can I reinstall the program without causing errors with incomplete files or partial file work completed &/or will it cause any work to become invalid? I certainly do not want to cause application or data issues over this little gpu issue. I seem to be able to compute at an adequate pace, but I am hoping to improve it with the gpu.

Any ideas, suggestions or questions to further define possible problems will be greatly appreciated and kindly received. Thanks for letting me pick your brains.

Cheers!

You installed with "protected mode" turned on. This is indicated by the line "running as a daemon". This mode prevents BOINC from using any GPUs.

How to fix this:

A) If there is a newer version of BOINC available:
1) Install the new version.
2) On the screen with the "advanced" button, press this button, and ensure that protected mode is turned off.

B) If there is not a newer version of BOINC available:
1) Uninstall the current version (this will not loose any work).
2) Do the steps for A above.
