still fairly new here and got my first inconclusive report today so i tried to do some investigating.
i found that the person checking has had some 1500 / 147 invalid / valid calculations
is this really helping and is there anything i can do to prevent them from checking files i've checked?

Inconclusive results are nothing unusual and also nothing to care much about. Only if you get some errors or invalids, than it's time to see what needs to be fixed.

There's an active thread on the recent rash of inconclusives here ...

Unless you're the cause of the inconclusive (and it doesn't appear that you are) then, as Link said, there's really nothing you can do. The WU will be sent to another host for validation.

Welcome to Number Crunching Forum.....
Yep, I started a thread about hosts, making (too) much inconclusive and
faulty results.
Often anonymous hosts, it'll take quite some time to 'check-out' all your
wingmen ;-)
I don't think it's recent, but don't know if there are more nowadays.
But it's a waste of resources, can overload the servers and bandwidth and
takes an extra host and time.

This part of your questions jumped out, and needs to be addressed: is there anything i can do to prevent them from checking files i've checked?

i meant this particular user since they seem to have a large imbalance in validated and invalidated data

Oh yes, Computer 3378825 (In progress (565) | Pending (15370) | Valid (134) | Invalid (1415) | Error (6) ), is 1 of about a half dozen or so of the worst PC's in a list of over 120 (and growing) of bad hosts that I've been teamed up with so far this month and likely most of those pendings it has will turn out to be invalid as well. :(

Cheers.

No, you have absolutely no control over who gets assigned as your partner/wingman. It is the luck of the draw as to who hits the scheduler with a request at the same time as you do.
