I and Others liked the forums the way they were, someone change the forum back, I've also heard this makes the Mods job harder, not easier, the forum wasn't broke, so why fix the forum?

Depends on your viewpoint. For mobile users the forums were broken, but I note that any changes to the way things are around here are immediately met with "it sucks!" instead of coming up with ways to make it work.

Well they can't crunch, can't they get a real PC? I doubt the smart phone makers like their phones/networks used for crunching or they would have sponsored this in the 1st place. still it sucks, PC/Mac/Linux users crunch here and should not be told sorry get over it, without us the forums would be an empty ghost town...

Some crunchers come and post from their smart phones, could be that they aren't near a computer to post at that time. Its the way technology is going, smart phones and tablets are more normal now then they were in the past, people want to stay connected, so they will do what they can to try and please everyone. It may make the mods jobs harder, it may make regulars here upset, but in the end, they can't make everyone happy.

This isn't about what device crunches and what doesn't. My personal internet connection at home has been out for two days, and will likely be out for a couple more. The only access I have to the forums is from work or on my mobile phone.

No one has told anyone to "just get over it", and certainly no one is trying to cater to a minority crowd. There's nothing wrong with trying to make the forums accessible to more people for greater participation.

Now please, get off your high horse.

I apologize, but I don't see anything obviously different in the forums. Would someone please explain what changes were made that are causing such a heated controversy? If you can point me to a link I haven't found that describes the changes, that would be OK, too.

Thanks! :)

It seems two threads have been spawned discussing the changes:

Help.... I messed something up. over in the Cafe.

Has anybody else noticed the change to the message boards? over in Number Crunching.

Some crunchers have dialup (slow) and others have Satelite (fast but flaky). Both of these types of connection have trouble with the old thread format. Most of the people that have these connections have no other choice (DSL, FIOS, etc.)
