Anyone noticed that it's friday the 13th today? I must say I didn't notice it, it was a day like any other.

I hadn't noticed either, well, at least until now :)

Noted the calendar, but nothing adverse happened so far......

Despite Friday the 13th, I believe I had a good day even if some news was not really welcome.

A lot more heavy rain. Though not as much as last week.
When we had the thunderstorms last week the department was hit by lightning, thereby sending every instrument in the place haywire.

Simon! Haven't noticed you 'round here lately.

<buys Simon a round>

Hope everything's good here in the cafe. What the heck, a round for everyone!

Damned power cuts

I've lost half a day's crunching.

Thank God it's Saturday.

Half a day is a bit of a long haul for a domestic UPS :-(

I trust that John managed to find a quiet corner to rest his fragile bones and consume some solace....

Yep it is Rob, but at least he may have got a graceful shutdown out of one. Just losing power doesn't do the hard disks any good. It's like playing an LP and suddenly flicking the switch, the needle nose dives into the record.

Well, yes I suppose you were missed...

(Nice entry in the word link, I think we will flush out the mere pretenders with that one)

And thanks for the drink, 'twas most welcome to wash the wood dust out of my throat after making a pile of logs into something that might fit into a wood burning stove.

Darn...Today I normally went to Westvleteren to get some trappist with my sister in law but she's ill so I didn't have a ride. Instead of that I went walking with the walking club. We only did 7 km because there was so much rain. It still was a good walk though.

??
Now I'm confused - I always associate "Trappist" with an order of monks, so what is this that you are doing?

Sorry to hear about your sister-in-law, you two are going through it :-(

Trappist is a beer with top fermentation that is brewed only by monks, so you were right about the monk part. I bought some Westmalle in the supermarket today. It's no Westvleteren but it's still a good trappist.

Yeah, my sister in law has the flu. I think it's because of the cold weather we've been having.
