Guy, I think you do believe it matters how someone becomes rich. With your background I can not imagine you endorsing drug lords as an example.

Guy, the important things in Arizona regarding the 2nd amendment include:

Don't restrict the sale of semi-automatic weapons intended to be transported across the border -- that's a restriction of free enterprise as well. A LOT of those guns are south of the border.

Don't restrict the ability of virtually anyone to conceal carry in all sorts of places -- schools, universities, bars, etc.

Guy -- you realize that this would really wreak havoc on Dull's postings.

I didn't realize that -- sure glad they don't do ANY lobbying -- that would be something of a violation of their tax exempt status. Oh wait, then they could simply be a for profit corporation and show no profit by allocating funds to a superpac and calling a cost of doing business.

Though that would reduce the tax deductions their advocates get.

Then again, the NRA advocates for some things that make them an 'after the fact' NARAL...

The NRA is a 501(c)(3).

Guy, so it does matter how someone became rich. I quote you "And it doesn't matter how someone becomes rich. Rich is rich."

The NRA is not a 501(c)3. The NRA Foundation is a 501(c)3.

The NRA Foundation teaches (gun safety) and guess what, education is a legitimate charitable purpose. Just like teaching bible study is legitimate. Content neutral regulations.

Oh you can look to the ACLU for another example of dual organizations.

Betreger, are you trying to be deliberately provocative? Does everyone have to prefix every statement with, only if it is otherwise legal ... especially as examples were given of ways to become rich all of which were legal ...

Enough with the mud from everyone.

Gary, the way I see it, Guy made an all inclusive statement and absolutes like that just don't make sense to me so I pointed that out. Now if that is being provocative then I am speechless.

Yes, I know they have an open carry law as well.

And I agree, other lobbying organizations impede progress via the loopholes.

But these days, they hardly have to -- Citizens United and corporations are people too (except that it is difficult to imprison corporations when actions they take (they are people too) lead to death and destruction via what for normal people might be criminal negligence.

BarryAZ, AZ has an open carry law also--but you already knew this, right? And it's not just the NRA that's preventing progress through the perfectly legal loopholes defined by 26 USC 501(c).

Sometimes you need to let absolute statements go because you know absolute isn't what was meant. Perhaps you did misunderstand the statement to include say becoming rich by confiscating and killing via genocide, but I don't think a reasonable person would make that connection. Of course you could have just asked, including illegal means, but you used a specific example. You baited him. That's my bone with you.

Ah -- OK -- thanks for that, my faith in the complications of loopholes is restored <rueful smile>.

You know, NARAL ought to reorganize to take advantage of this.

hummm ... can't wait for a court the next time some corp has to plead out ...

Judge: Defendant corporation having been found guilty will surrender to be placed in custody, that is the articles of incorporation, the minutes and the corporate seal ...

Giggle. I am still waiting for a case where people discuss forming a corporation, start drawing up papers and then back out. In Alabama (and apparently with nearly all the candidates in the TeaParty presidential stakes), the participants, by aborting the conversations, are guilty of murder (corporations after all are people too).

I know you get frustrated dealing with brick walls. Being polite costs nothing. Besides when you are nasty brick walls just echo it back.

Absolutely. Drugs for anyone. Just pick up your recreational users permit after you file your DNR order. We'll encode it on your drivers license for DUI reasons. Then we can get busy and slap sin taxes on it all.

Barry, the Dull One does claim to have some humanity, IIRC he has posted that he cares for feral cats.

The dullster does have some humanity hiding in there. I've seen it some out here and there sometimes in opposition to his own party. That, I've respected.

Oh how true. It's the very nature of many posts. I've been referred to as Xclueless etc.. He however does not do it in such a rude manner as others.
