Hello! First post and I really don't know much about the whole Seti@Home process. I had things running on one computer for a while and then a team mate of my (who I hope is not now banished for life from here) got me into the Lunatic apps and I now have 4 machines running and crunching.

Anyway, my main box with an i7 and Nvidia card just suddenly got 5 AstroPulse 6.0 work units to crunch on. Is it normal to get 5 at once? Also, these are the work units that you accumulate a large number of "credits" for processing, right?

Just curious...thanks for your insights!

The BOINC client will ask for however many days of work you set it to. If you just started running AP6 on that machine the estimates will be high. So later you will get many more than 5 at once most likely.I have had a whole screen full of AP tasks on some of my machines in the past.

Since AP6 came I turned my notebook into AP only, and I don't think I've gotten more than 2 at once. Before with v5 I often got more, 10 sometimes, and that was not on a AP only machine.

I've had 12 APs in all today, which I don't think is even enough for a whole day.

The LUNATICs have made an excellent OpenCL app. rev.555 for AstroPulse,
on ATI GPUs
. Included in 0.41 Installer.
In this case an older 5870 GPUs, but I can recomment this, if you happen to
have an ATI GPU, this saves a lot of time.

Enough load (15 - 80%), running 1 AP per GPU.
They can't send me enough AstroPulse work ;-)
I already, like them a lot.
And you get more credit compaired to an average 0.4 AR MB WU.

AP normally go fast, but if you are lucky you can get several.

Can you tell me where to find that one, Fred? It would save me all the work of having to do it!

NB the installer is at v0.40. v0.41 is at the pre planning stage with an ETA of late August, if all goes well. I'm probably being very optimistic there...

You are on BOINC 7 - if you have upgraded from boinc 6 you need to swap your cache settings around (e.g. if you were set for 0.5/10 you need 10/0.5 now) - you probably asked for something like 10 days in one request, so you got a whole bunch of overestimated AP in one go.

Getting more than 2 in one work request is amazing. I envy you. Since the launch of AP v6, I have never once gotten more than 2 in one request. As stated already, back in the v505 days, my record is 22 in one request. But now these days, 90% of the time it is "no work available," 7% of the time it is 1 AP, and the remaining 3% is 2 APs.

The perils of AP-only.
