A continuation of "John Clark".

I'm sure you know the rules, just keep it light, more or less polite, and keep John amused....

Be very careful doing that, if he laughs too much we could be in need of a lot of Plaster of Paris over here....

He wont be amused, Rob; when he knows we've polished-off one of his jars
of "Robin Hood's Extra Mature Vintage Pickles" last week.

Sssssshhhhh you weren't supposed to let that out .....
John was going to find out anyway when he carried out his next
stock taking exercise. Rob said there was another 48 crates hidden somewhere
down there in the cellar. Goodness knows where they are though, my suspicions
are that John has another cellar buried below the first one. You often get
a deep echo sound, from below, when you stomp across the cellar floor....
I think I'll consider this other cellar "out of bounds"....don't wont to
over-step the mark with John...at least John now knows his 1812 vintage
pickles are ready for eating, at last.

I don't think John will be in the least offended - he was providing the light for our search. Not only that he took a jar away for his personal inspections.

For our American viewers, these were not pickled gherkins, but proper pickles. After all these years it is very hard to determine exactly what vegetables went in, but there is most certainly a hint of onion and tomato, and possibly a little apple...

They ran out of pre-1900 pickle some time ago. Shortly after John and I ordered fifty cases each... (and if my cases are anything to go by there's none left)
'twas good, but nowhere near as good as the 1812
