Shh, John doesn't now it, but his key is a copy of my key... And I've "liberated" a couple of bottles from a far corner. They are very old, very rare, and a select few will be able to pass comment shortly. Now, John, here's your bottle.... Julie, here's yours Chris, one for you Donald, you might like to try this one And since there's one left I'll try this one I'm sorry the labels are suffering from the ravages of time and are all but illegible, but I think you will find the contents to be sublime. You carry on Rob ATM I am nearly as bald as a coot, and need time to finish the move. I will then try my Dad's old formulae of 3 x 4 finger glasses of a single malt taken before bed every night and the hair will then regrow. He told me the regrowth will be strong, slightly curly, corse and ginger ... It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues |

Hmm, this label looks as if it might have a maple leaf on it.. {squint again} Yes it says its a distilled maple sugar spirit - now one has to ask "where did this come from?", but I know where its going - SD to Celt Tooth... No problem John, you still have eye brows. I had the chemo to encourage the stem cell growth. Had the stem cells harvested and now preserved. They wanted a minimum of 2 million, and preferably 4. They got 3.2 million by last Friday, and hair loss started last Wednesday and is nearly complete - nearly bald. When I go in for the stem cell transplant, it is started off with a massive chemo dose to destroy my immune system. The stem cells will build me a new immune system, and my eye brows will fall out as I have no head hair. I might even end up with a self serving Brazilian. Then on to coarse slightly ginger hair ... John, I guess you are about half way through your period of isolation, I hope all goes well when they try to kick start your immune system, then its "back to normal". btw - Did you know about a third of people who suffer hair loss from chemotherapy have a different hair colour when it returns, you'd better warn Sheila she may be sleeping with a new man soon... Thank you for all the good wishes. Ang I can almost smell the scent from the flower in that picture. Meeting Professor Russell the head billy rigs for the Hematology research group in the NHS. He will be discussion the final stages or isolation and stem cell transplant to build a new immune system, so I expect I will hear about the hospital visit 2 to 3 weeks later. Now looks like sometime in February. My GP pointed up an interesting thing she will need to correct. When the new immune system is working and efficient, I will have no inbuilt immunity to all the things my current immune system knows about. She will need to look through over 65 years of notes to see what vaccinations I need to reinstate that natural immunity. Very strange, and a complete wipe out back to a blank sheet ... Thank you for all the good wishes. Wow... That is pretty amazing to think about. A clean slate is not always a good thing, I guess. You are charting some very unusual territory, my friend. I send more kitty karma your way.......... "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Kitty karma received, and mixed with my furball (5 Shih-Tzu) love and help ... Yes, Mark. An unexpected journey starting 10 months ago, but an interesting one in the details of what concerns doctors at that time - first, kidney failure, dialysis and getting my kidneys back; second, finding the myeloma and starting it's treatment; third, how effective the combination of chemo drugs were in treating my myeloma; fourthly, the stem cell development, mobilisation and harvesting, resulting in no hair and not needing to shave for weeks; sixth, the next stage of stem cell transplant and a new immune system; and then having to find all the things I need to reacquire immunity against again. One of the things I know I am immune to now is small pox, for family reasons. I wonder if this will remain? It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues |

Off for the final treatment, the stem cell transplant, tomorrow. Had a chat to the Isolation Unit in Nottingham City Hospital, about what they want me to take. That's OK, but I find the Hospetedia facility (wide ranging TV, phone and crude Internet facilities) are not available. It's several months of PCPro, Diesel Car and Advanced Driving magazines, a terrestrial channel TV and my mobile for company. This means the planned posting to SETI Cafe, and other project forums planned is now not possible. This means I will be silent until the transplant is complete. Until then I will remain silent, between phone updates to Chris. This assumes the immune system killing chemo is not too bad and I don't react heavily to it. So, I assume my next post is to all when I am back home in between 2 and 3/4 weeks from tomorrow. It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues |
