You will never be truly alone, even when you are in the isolation ward. You cannot ditch us friend, now or ever!!!

Yes I know and am grateful.

When I go into isolation in January (some date) I think I may stay off the Hospital Internet system that Lincoln Hospital had. My understanding when I have the very high chemo dose, to destroy the immune system, before rebuilding then one sleeps between 12 and 14 hours per day.

So, until I get there and experience any side effects, I need to see if it is worthwhile paying for the TV and Internet access. It is expensive.

I hope all will understand?

Not a prob John, completely Understood. As before, I'll liaise with the troops via Sheila as necessary. You just go ahead and get yourself sorted out, and shout if you need any help :-)

Boy, this stem cell thingee is complex.

Just completed the high dosage chemo to encourage bone marrow to blood stream stem cell development.

Went to Nottingham City Hospital Haematology for my first stem cell harvesting session, and -

Zilch!

A blood test is first taken (Hickman Line), and the white cell is counted. If this is not at 1 or more, then take more high dosage chemo and go home.

Problem - up at 05.30am for a 07.30am pick up by hospital car to Nottingham, and return booked at 16.30pm (tea time). So busy at Christmas no car available, so I read my unread Sunday Times.

Same routing for tomorrow, but if the white cell count is OK they look and count stem cells.

At least the nurse said if the white cell count is exceeded then there should be no problem with the stem cells (only a very few) and harvesting can proceed.

So, tomorrow's reading will be PCPros and Diesel Car magazines.
