Message 1245788 - Posted: 14 Jun 2012, 7:36:57 UTC - in response to Message 1245502.

Well, I now know the type of myeloma I have - kappa light chain multiple myeloma, or Bence Jones myeloma. This, it seems, occurs in about 20% of this problem.

The good thing is the light chain base line, before any chemo, has a measured figure of 6,959 (what ever that actually means). After this first month treatment, the kappa light chain factor has been dramatically reduced to 89 ... some reaction and the start of winning.

Now we just keep it down and squash it out of existence over time.

It also appears one of the reasons for my recent tiredness may be that I am anemic! Going in for a 3 unit/pint blood transfusion Monday. I would much prefer the transfusion to be a blended version of Landlord beer.

Now onwards and upwards.

Lori's chemo made her quite anemic on a couple of occasions as well....
Although not so serious as to require transfusions.

Your docs know what's best in your case, of course. But for Lori, they prescribed a weekly shot of Procrit until her red blood cell count was back within acceptable limits.

Hi Guys

Yes, the visit Mike and Chris made was very enjoyable and went down well. We did learn that Mike is not a traditional UK ale drinker (too sharp I think) so we will stick to his like of Fosters.

Been a bit tired over the week end (last one), but have recovered a bit. Although reserves of strength are limited, I did manage to cut the front lawn today. I am assuming I will be knackered tomorrow! If I am not, and the weather remains as good and sunny/dry as it has today I Will try and mow the back lawn ... still need to clear today's puppy poop!
It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues

I admire your perseverance, but, as I try to admonish Lori sometimes these days, don't let your exuberance get ahead of your stamina.
You have limited resources right now, and have to keep that in mind.

That being said, good show, old chap!!!

At least we know when Mike is around his tipple is a larger beer, pity about the size of the head the UK pours.

Turned out to be as predicted - tired, so the back lawns will be done another day.

Funny weather - strong sunshine and dry this morning, and right now. Bit in between was heavy thunderstorm down pouring of rain. At least we were not caught in the rain, but I dare say many were.
