Yeah me too! Not my personal choice of pets as I dislike caged animals per se, but I'm glad they will be well looked after.

You have to keep ferrets in cages Chris otherwise they run away and get killed by other critters. They also need a nice place to sleep, they sleep 20 hours a day.
My ferrets run around 2 main rooms of the house for 4 hours each day.

Here they are checking out the computer desk.

Play fighting over a supermarket bag...they go completely mental playing with plastic bags and are so funny.

Sorry about the image quality but it's a bit dark here and the never stay still long enough for a good portrait. :)

I've had a look at the camera and the flash was turned off and I have now set it to sports mode so I might get some nice pics this evening when they come out for a run around again.

They are even funny when they sleep...

Question is do they follow You around the house like Grace does with Me?

Sometimes they do Vic but mostly they just play with each other.

They look cute, Monday.

Most ferret owners I used to know kept them for rabbiting

Nice pictures indeed Monday. I had a ferret once but it died rather quickly. I think I only had it for a month or so.

@ Chris. That is a Roland A-800PRO Midi keyboard controller. I plug it into Garageband (a Mac program) and try to play the piano lessons. So far I can play a 3 finger chord. Mucking about with all the instrument and synthesiser sounds is also quite entertaining.

@Julie That's a shame Julie. The ferret adoption people have given us extensive training to care for our new pets. Hopefully they will survive. :)

@John We wont be doing any rabbiting John. I dont really like killing animals, even feral pests like rabbits. Also would hate to lose one of our ferrets, they cant survive in the wild here.

Sounds like yer ferrets would rue the day they got outside, hopefully that won't happen, I have to be on My guard when I open the door as Grace wants to go outside where there are cars and ticks, putting a tick collar on Her won't work as She rips them off and the cars well those things need to be trapped. ;)

They are pets and never trained/learnt to hunt in the wild or not.

I agree your comment.

We use timber (Medium Density Fibreboard) barriers on all openings that our ferrets are not allowed through. The two rooms they are allowed loose in are plenty big enough for them to run around and play in. Also, they always sleep confined in their cage for their own safety - they go into a ferret "dead" sleep, and it could be very difficult to find them in a hurry if we needed to evacuate the house.

They have only been pets John, not ever trained for hunting.

Where as Grace being a Cat, doesn't seem to need to be trained, She likes Birdies...

I know. I have had 3 pets who died, 2 dogs and a ferret. One dog, Gonzo, was 4 years old and the other, Sopor, was 5. I didn't know how old Prutske, the ferret was.

Monday - Have you ferrets done the "ferret ball trick" yet? They curl up into a ball, and your job is to count the noses - there are ALWAYS more noses in the ball than you have ferrets!!! (Even when one is sitting watching/helping you count the noses in the ball)

I find it easier to count the feet and divide by 4.
