Really Uli, why?

I can supply the answer Chris and I'll quote from the wiki answers page:

wiki answers wrote:
Ferrets are illegal in California because the California Department of Fish and Game claims that if ferrets are let out into the wild, they would mate, multiply, become feral and could threaten native wildlife.
[snip]
Three primary points have been raised by the California Department of Fish and Game in "Department of Fish and Game Ferret Fact Sheet, March 25, 1994."
Views expressed are summarized as follows:

Ferrets may bite (or attack), and are especially prone to bite or scratch children and infants.

There is no proven vaccine against rabies in ferrets.

Ferrets may threaten native wildlife.

California Laws

California Codes
California Fish and Game Code
FISH AND GAME CODE SECTION 2116-2127

2125. (a) In addition to any other penalty provided by law, any person who violates this chapter or any regulations implementing this chapter, is subject to a civil penalty of not less than five hundred dollars ($500) nor more than ten thousand dollars ($10,000) for each violation. Except as otherwise provided, any violation of this chapter or of any regulations implementing this chapter is a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment in a county jail for not more than six months, or by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000).

That's pretty much why their illegal, not just to sell, but to possess, there are stations on roads leading into California that are labeled agricultural stations, where they could inspect for this non native and potentially invasive animal.

They are pretty handy at biting adults too... Minky has been in the "Sin Bin" a couple of times today.

My cat never scratched me. I think she was a streetcat when I found her but for being a wild cat she is really gentle and kind.

Doesn't sound wild to Me, sounds like just homeless or lost maybe.

Could be. She was in my garden all at once. Didn't know where she came from.

It can happen, sad to say, but as long as She's happy like My Grace is, She may not care and Grace like Maine Coons follows Me around a lot, except when She's tired, then I let Her sleep, She does the same for Me too.

I think she's happy. She's staying with some friends of mine until I find a new home. They take really good care of her.

I couldn't afford the house anymore without the money of my husband. Now I'm looking for something cheaper and still big enough. It's not easy to find a place like that.

I have had foxes and raccoons. I also have baby raccoons. It seems that once one of the adult raccoons chased off the fox, she brought 5 babies to the front yard.
