Been having some problems reporting tasks on one machine (http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5880103) and tried different things suggested by other people having similar problems, to no avail.

The PC in question is one of 3-4 at home crunching and connecting through the same connection as the others. I did not make any changes to it recently to cause problems, and am at a loss as to what is causing the problem. It
did not report tasks since May 15. I do realize it's got a decent number of tasks to report and hope/assume this is not the (obvious) problem. The PC is uploading tasks, surfing the web, can tracert/ping the setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu, and here's what I get if I go to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi:

<scheduler_reply>
<scheduler_version>613</scheduler_version>
<master_url>http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/</master_url>
<request_delay>303.000000</request_delay>
<message priority="low">Error in request message: xp.get_tag() failed </message>
<project_name>SETI@home</project_name>
</scheduler_reply>

here is my cc_config:

<cc_config>
<log_flags>
<http_debug>1</http_debug>
</log_flags>
<options>
<http_1_0>1</http_1_0>
<use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus>
<ignore_cuda_dev>99</ignore_cuda_dev>
</options>
</cc_config>

Here are the messages:

Have also tried restarting the router, the PC and all that (the obvious), and reinstalled BOINC over the current installation, to no avail. Using XP 64-bit SP2 without any extra patches/updates, as it is exclusively a crunching rig that is not used for anything else.

(I am traveling over the next couple days so please bear with me if I don't respond immediately, but am definitely interested if anyone has any suggestions or ideas). thanks!

add these lines to your cc_config

<options>
<max_tasks_reported>100</max_tasks_reported>
</options>

That will report 100 WU's at a time. Just have the BOINC manger read the cc_config after you edit it. The Debug probably isn't going to help you on this and can be turned off.

Msattler showed me this one. You can update as soon as the previous Update finishes.

IIRC, the OP would have to be at BOINC v6.12.xx or higher for that command line to work.

The other thing is, since DA (or whomever) put the reporting limits server side after last Tuesday's outage, I'm wondering if one even needs that command line anymore. Right now, it looks like reporting is limited to 64 at a time.

I didn't point out that I had 1250 WU's to return. BOINC/seti wouldn't send the results. added the cc_config lines and BOOM BOOM out go the WU's. and yes this was added for 6.12.XX BOINC. So oyu may need an update of BOINC to make things work for you

Thanks gents for your help so far; indeed my version did not recognize the line in cc_config. I have installed 6.12.34 and included the max_tasks_reported>100</max_tasks_reported> line in cc_config and it's now reading it properly (says:

5/26/2012 4:12:07 PM | SETI@home | Sending scheduler request: To report completed tasks.
5/26/2012 4:12:07 PM | SETI@home | Reporting 100 completed tasks, not requesting new tasks

Seti seems to be down at the moment so I'll report back with the results when it's back on (not even uploading tasks, I see there's a bottleneck somewhere up there).

woo-hoo! it's working - couple of sets of 100 tasks reported already, and I see it also reflects on the list of my computers.

Many thanks skildude for the very useful suggestion.

Since this machine is one of the high performers in my little farm (and frequently has hundreds or thousands of tasks to report at a time), I will just leave this setting on as it is.

much appreciated. happy crunching!

You're welcome. I'm just passing along what I've learned. Msattler is the hero here.

You can also try this line in your config

<report_results_immediately>1</report_results_immediately>

That way if the results aren't reporting you know for certain something is wrong in transmitting the results
