Every cent I had back in about '79 went to my Pontiac Lemans.
I bought it and a 540 block solely to race the track.

Tyres were a major cost.

It would do low 9's as I recall.
Until the day I did a brody and wheelstanded.
Ended up going backside about 90 mph.
My head was going where my keyster was supposed to be headed.

And you wonder why I am sometimes a little less than combobylated these days.
Might have something to do with it.
They did save me.....sans a bit of grit in my teeth and my head was still attached to my helmet. I was one of the few back in those days that wore one.
The rest were idiot warriors.
They picked me up and dusted me off.
Not so for the Lemans. You could not find two pieces of it to put back together.
The block separated itself from what was left of the car by about a quarter mile.
My single seat left me upright looking rather sheepish by the side of the track.
Lord. What a ride.
