I have now watched a couple episodes of this new series on the Science Channel and most of the programming is about the usual suspects, new sources of energy, medical advancements and the like. One of the segments is about the uses of cell phone data based on tracking the movement of individual units. It was very scarey even for someone like me who does not secumb to conspiracy theories easily. I'm sure that some who watched this segment are contemplating destroying any device they have that can track their movement. In the wrong hands some of this data about you could lead to danger, like ambushes. And we all know that criminal minds are heavy into technology. Honestly, I don't worry about the common criminal hacking my phone and tracking me to rob me. I worry more about general data of what I do, being sold privately without my knowledge (or any kickback :-)) And as far as the government using the technology to track and build cases against criminals, that's been being done for a few years now. #resist |

Personally I don't lose any sleep worrying about big brother tracking my every move. It would be the most boring job in the world but I do see a trend developing similar to that in the movie "Minority Report" and I am somewhat uneasy about any entity amassing that much personal data for even the most altruistic reasons. When are they going to tatoo us with a number? Bob DeWoody My motto: Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow as it may not be required. This no longer applies in light of current events. |

When are they going to tatoo us with a number? In a weird way, that's what smartphones are... :-) #resist |

When are they going to tatoo us with a number? Probably insert ID chip at birth, the same technology as used for pets. |

Consider the next step, embedded smartphone transceivers. Expect to see something like that first in Special Forces. When are they going to tatoo us with a number? |

Where I live they solved a murder by finding out who used the cell phone last then using the GPS in to locate the body. The idiot who killed the girl phoned his friends with her phone,Then left the phone on her body. [/quote] Old James |
