Could not feel the morning 5.8 shock,I was outside, but felt one at 13 CEST time, with lamps dancing. Today is a workday, so workers are present in industrial buildings which crumble, evidently poorly built.

Very sad news indeed. I think the rescue workers are doing a great job though.

This is a sad story. An earthquake hit Ferrara in 1570, 1572 and 1574. Then no earthquake for centuries, and the zone was not declared a risk zone until 2003. So many industrial buildings, even recent, were not prepared for a magnitude 6 shock. So they crumbled, killing workers. But the second shock, that of May 29, was even worse, since it happened on a workday. Workers were either working in undamaged buildings or repairing damaged ones. !7 people died in the second shock, compared to 5 or 6 in the first shock.

This has not hit the headlines in the UK, and I don't understand why?

Ducati, Ferrari, Lamborghini. Maserati have stopped work and sent workers home. Now people are quarreling about construction codes, but it's too late.
