Know how it feels, I was in Napoli in November 1980, when an earthquake struck near Balvano. Unforunately there was 3,000 deaths then. Hope the four deaths reported by the BBC doesn't get worse.

There is also a 4.2 about 3 1/2 hours before the first 6 shock.

Ok, seems a build up, the happening, then a gradual decline, as one would expect.

I can still remember the 1980 quake with 3,000 killed, 1,900 missing, 7,750 injured, 250,000 homeless and extensive damage in a 25,000 square kilometer area of Campania and Basilicata.

I was a young man in Round Table, at the time and I spent many days and nights with others collecting clothes and utensils to send out there. RTBI Chartered three large lorries and drove them out there themselves. These days any money raised from the UK, will be sent direct to local Rotary & Table Clubs nearest to the disaster, to be best spent as they see fit.

Thankfully this one is not as serious.

I heard a 37 yo german woman got a heart attack and died after the shock.

Yes. The count now is 6 dead, with 4 workers doing night shifts and a 103 years old woman. A 5 year old girl was saved when her father called the 113 emergency number from the USA.

It is a sad day for Italy. Yesterday a criminal act ended in killing one 16 years old girl in Brindisi and wounding several others. It might be a Mafia attack, but local Mafia members deny this, or a terrorist attack or simply a madman. Today we have more earthquake-related deaths.

The earthquake and the first aftershock both woke me up at Innsbruck, Austria, 270 kilometers north of the epicenter. The aftershock of 15:18 could also be felt here. Our national earthquake service said aftershocks may continue for weeks, with some of them potentially powerful enough to cause further damage.
My thoughts are with all the Italian people.

Bad times. Seem the quakes have all been relatively shallow, so damage is worse than could normally be expected.
