Nah Californians are still tucked up in bed dreaming of meeting ET. At least another 4 hours before they start pulling out the plugs.

Actually, I believe they usually get into the lab at 8am Pacific Time, which is 1500 UTC or about 10 minutes ago. Then they take at least half an hour to do routine stuff before they start the outage.

No sarcasm intended. Pulling the plug is just a UK way of saying turning off the power or more generally shutting something down.

Every now and then someone gets in early. I have see everything go down before 11:00 AM US Eastern time.

A long time ago one of Matt's posts noted that Jeff is an early riser, so when Matt is out of town the Tuesday outages tend to start earlier. The first campus shuttle bus run arrives at the lab around 7:30 am.

Murphy's favourite law....

"If you perceive that there are four possible ways in which something can go wrong, and circumvent these, then a fifth way, unprepared for, will promptly develop.

Corollary: It will be impossible to fix the fifth fault, without breaking the fix on one or more of the others".

I was referring to Lionel's comment :-)

And seeing as the system went down only a few hours after he posted.....
