Persdonally I think it's a total waste of £22.7 miilion. That money could have better served the community.

To me, it looks like metal from a scrapyard & on further researching it, 60% of the metal did indeed come from scrapyards.,,,

Many years ago in Indianapolis, I went to an art museum. There was a painting on the wall which was totally black, but painted with an oil brush. No picture, just black. It was valued at thousands of dollars. I was aroung 9 or 10 at the time, but have never forgotten it as that was the poorest excuse for art I had ever seen.

Wonder if it was a better value than this use of tax payer money?

It looks similar to that of the Eiffel Tower under melt-down, which no doubt
must happen one day. The Eiffel Tower must have a large carbon footprint
especially where maintenance is concerned. I think it should be scrapped and
replaced by a newer model made from fiberglass...wont need so much maintenance
so would be much greener for the environment.

Sirius, I like it. Only 3.1M pounds came from other sources and even if the anticipated return will be less than 10M pounds it is still a sound investment.

I saw something similar, but it was all white.
It was titled an Albino Deer in a Blizzard.

My wife and I have been on vacation in Italy -- I don't understand most modern art (which is I suppose to say, I don't appreciate it). The art in churches, cathedrals and Italian museums -- that impresses me -- some of it is flat out awesome.

I'm just waiting for the Olympics to end, then just watch it slowly being dismantled by the East European "Metal Collectors".

You mean its only half done, and I've got to wait.

It would certainly be a lot more functional as a ride, one of the very rare "tower" rollers....

It could be interpreted artistically as how the sculptor might envision how a twisted gut, ready to explode might look like too...

Seeing as it has sparked a debate and got you all thinking, it has done it's job as a piece of modern art.

Modern art isn't supposed to make you comfortable.

After these were purchased by a city, the did indeed spark thought on "why in the heck did we pay for these, and what the heck are they supposed to mean"?

I think the meaning was thousands of dollars to the artist.
