Persdonally I think it's a total waste of £22.7 miilion. That money could have better served the community.

Many years ago in Indianapolis, I went to an art museum. There was a painting on the wall which was totally black, but painted with an oil brush. No picture, just black. It was valued at thousands of dollars. I was aroung 9 or 10 at the time, but have never forgotten it as that was the poorest excuse for art I had ever seen.

Most popular artists are not artistic, they are simply con artists.

Wonder if it was a better value than this use of tax payer money?

What makes me laugh is people paying millions for a pile of bricks!! The Tate Modern is a load of rubbish, I've been there, believe me .... Don't waste your money or your time, you'll be disappointed.

It looks similar to that of the Eiffel Tower under melt-down, which no doubt

Sirius, I like it. Only 3.1M pounds came from other sources and even if the anticipated return will be less than 10M pounds it is still a sound investment.

reminds me of freddy krueger ripping his/it's way into our reality. Many years ago in Indianapolis, I went to an art museum. It was titled an Albino Deer in a Blizzard. rofl

My wife and I have been on vacation in Italy -- I don't understand most modern art (which is I suppose to say, I don't appreciate it). The art in churches, cathedrals and Italian museums -- that impresses me -- some of it is flat out awesome.

I don't understand most modern art That is the whole point, you aren't supposed to! These con artists, and I use the word con intentionally, deliberately design and produce their creations in the way that they do, in the hope that people will stop and stare, and try to work out what on earth it is, or is meant to represent. When that happens their aim is fulfilled, their little piece of tat has become a talking point, and they revel in their Avant-garde status in the trendy cocktail circuit. Whenever I see this sort of stuff I think of Tony Hancocks film "The Rebel". The Rebel

I'm just waiting for the Olympics to end, then just watch it slowly being dismantled by the East European "Metal Collectors".
