Is the island we are looking for in the vicinity of Saint Kitts and Nevis?

Only in the same sense that they are both in the Caribbean.

There are three languages that are generally spoken there, and none of the three is Portuguese.

Pico Turquino? cuba

Cuba is closer to Saint Kitts and Nevis than either is to the Mystery location.

My mistake. It is actually closer to the mystery island than the two are apart. Had to go measure on a map though.

The last time I was there, the airport did not have jet ways. You went up and down a portable stair case.

I flew on the inaugural flight of their national airline from the airport from which I left the US. The airline is still in existence.

How about English, Spanish, and Dutch?

Is it St Maarten? I believe they speak Dutch and English there. Don't know about Spanish though.

No, it is not St. Maarten. The spelling of Maarten looks like it is a Dutch colony though.

It made international news a few years ago when there was a murder.

St. Kitts & Nevis is too far North and too far East.

It is not in the arc of islands that includes St. Kitts & Nevis.

Not that I know about. However, I will not pretend to know all of the various varieties of liquor available.

There is a liquor named after a nearby island though.

There is a wrecked ship off of the west coast of the island. It is a favorite spot for divers. The top of the mast is (or was when I was there) sticking out of the water. The bottom of the ship is more than 60' below the surface.
