No, it is a year round home.
The answers to date add up to a good hint.

it was built as

If this was true, is was unknown to me,
as it is now a year round home.

edit:
If one was to try to see this home from the street, a line of trees would block any view.
Hint:A review of my posting history would be a fine guide as to where this home could be found.

You may be correct for the current structure as it is a replacement of the original official residence, which was a summer home. Didn't dig deep enough and relied on Wiki.

Ob question; Will "5W4" be part of the answer you seek?

Sounds like a Veterans' Home, where old Soldiers and Sailors go when they can't afford to live by themselves anymore.

We both should exclude the family of the "official" person in residence from that honor.

Does the house have a website with gardening tips?

In some cases that is not true, but at this house it is.

Hint: The town you are looking for is home to North America's oldest annual sporting event.
Just a reminder, the question is:
Ok now as we are on the subject of aedificium: So what is this place, and just to make it easy, what is the street address in what town.

(is anyone playing?)

How do you hold boat races in there?

The Royal St. John's Regatta is North America's oldest annual sporting event with documented proof of 1816 boat races. There is credible contention that St. John's regattas were held even earlier than 1816, likely in the 18th century. Held on Quidi Vidi Lake in St. John's, Newfoundland, the Regatta is scheduled for the first Wednesday of August.

Some of the clues just don't add up. For example you say that the holder of the order of Canada lives there. Well I found that Nigel Rusted died in March So that clue is off. He might have lived there (past tense) but not living there now.

But I think it's
