I'm worried about the economy tanking. It seems mysteriously slow everywhere going into this summer... #resist |

It isn't mysterious -- there are enough world economic problems to make a slow down easy, and there seems to be a political incentive for both the TeaPublicans and their major supporters to facilitate a slow down from now to the election. Why would big business want a slowdown? Well if Romney wins, they expect a far more forgiving attitude toward regulations, profit and top end compensation. So tanking for a quarter or two pays off in the intermediate term. |

I started down the same thought process in my own head after posting that last night... They are the ones in the positions of control. They stop spending, and yep I agree they could and would cause a slowdown for their own purposes. But if people think it's bad now, and decide a presidential change is in order, then we'll really see how low we can go. #resist |

Obama does make it easier not to vote for him when we does a 'the private sector is fine' spin in a news conference. Gosh, he sounds like Romney will sound as President in 2013 if elected. Then again, Obama is a center or center/right sort of President on a very large number of issues (Faux news notwithstanding). |

I'm worried Barry. That's for sure. I made a statement that Obama wins hands down. But I am worried that will only hold true if the young, and female populations, get their vote out. If not, I'll be eating my own words, while I watch the economy tank further, and watch the separation of wealth start to resemble Brazil. #resist |

Ex -- I hear you. And as I've noted before, I get exercised quite a bit over 'the reason why the poor are poor and the rich are rich is because the poor are lazy' stuff I see in too many blogs. The thing is, an Obama win won't stop the concentration of wealth -- because the House is not likely to go Democrat, and the Senate *even if the Democrats manage to retain a majority* will not have enough Democrats to get super majorities. And of course even if those two conditions were dealt with (and they won't), the Republicans have a 5/4 majority in the other legislative branch of government. |

It plays well to ditto heads. The poor are poor because of poor skill sets. --try that again-- The poor are poor due to disadvantaged skill sets. --no sounds too PC-- The poor have low income due to the lack of highly sought after talents. --hum a bit too much like a stump speech-- Failure of education creates low income. --true but not on the mark-- The poor are poor due to a whole host of different reasons. |

Agreed -- too bad politics has (on both sides of the aisle) so effectively stripped out nuance. Everything is Manichean. [ |

Guy, you don't have to answer this, but are you over 60 years old? (It could explain a lot to me) I suspect Guy is in his mid-fiddies. |

I'm going to vote for the American. Whomever that may be. Is there an American running for President? |

I'm going to vote for the American. Whomever that may be. How about the Mexican-American that consumes mass quantities of "Just For Men-Touch of Grey"? |

I see that Obama would prefer a rational rather immigration policy -- perhaps more like that suggested by McCain before he got 'TeaParty fever'. I can see how a rational policy would antagonize those for whom rational is a bad, evil word. |

That would be more recent, the other is ongoing.

Guy -- indeed, it is one of the components of that left wing radical John McCain's position of 2006. Unrest and evil for sure. As I noted before, rational is so revolutionary and radical to some. |

No, I'm closer to the high end of my 40's. This !@##@*^&!?? outrages me. That's about all I can say within the confines of this forum. Election year political posturing at the expense of this country's well being. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Mark, this country spent much money educating these people and you think we should discard our investment? A poor investment strategy for our economy IMO. |
