Sarge, just to correct a misread that some folks (perhaps representing a burgeoning literacy problem in this country) have -- I turned 61 this year. Now for some 'youngins' anything older than 40 or so might be really old so I can understand the misconception.

Message 1251321 - Posted: 25 Jun 2012, 15:14:28 UTC - in response to Message 1247073.

WAKE UP AMERICA. Can't you see that your political system is as corrupt as any "Banana Republic" ???

It doesn't matter which party holds the Presidency as long as Congress is for sale to the highest bidder.

The current situation began much longer than four years ago. No country can continually pay for two extended wars on credit. I can't see how the Conservatives among you can blame Obama for the current situation in the US when the seeds of the current problems were sown well before he became president. The 2008 presidential elections were one I bet the Republicans were happy to lose because they knew the sh*t was about to hit the fan. Is it only non-US citizens that can see this ?

The GFC, which was mainly caused by slack financial management, was just beginning to bite when Obama took power, but can no-one out there see that that a McCain presidency would have had to take very similar steps to stave off collapse of the US economy as what Obama did?? Or do you think "the GOP" has some sort of magic wand that would have kept the US national debt less than the the GDP of the rest of the planet? Do you think honestly think Romney can fix the problems with a wave of his hand ?

Wake up you guys, just because your old man voted for a particular party doesn't mean you have vote for that party as well. Start demanding honesty and integrity from your congressional representatives and vote for the party most likely to provide them. Republican or Democrat it really doesn't matter as long as they provide HONEST government.

Until the 95% of "rusted on" voters stop leaving the decision of who runs America to the 5% of swinging voters the US is doomed. Unfortunately when the US collapses it will take the rest of the Western World with it.

That's a good question. But the answer is NOT by removing regulation and government control.

Someone mentioned Omni Consumer High-school. :-)

That's where we'd end up.

It will be done by removing Federal government regulation, and, restore local government control.

Yes removing gov't oversight is always a win win. Since we know and trust greedy corporate types to always do the right thing in the end.

I thought you were religious did you forget man was given freewill. Not all people work with a functioning moral compass. SO deregulating is not at all a good idea. Like the saying goes. I trust you but show me the books(or the carfax)

`And only one for birthday presents, you know. There's glory for you!'

`I don't know what you mean by "glory,"' Alice said.

Humpty Dumpty smiled contemptuously. `Of course you don't -- till I tell you. I meant "there's a nice knock-down argument for you!"'

`But "glory" doesn't mean "a nice knock-down argument,"' Alice objected.

`When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, `it means just what I choose it to mean -- neither more nor less.'

`The question is,' said Alice, `whether you can make words mean so many different things.'

`The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, `which is to be master - - that's all.'

`The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, `which is to be master - - that's all.'

The book you asked for...

We are to be masters--of ourselves. I am a Christian man.

Master of yourself? why is it someone can say something so profound and then get animatedly upset about abortion. or other ideals that you don't like. You are the master of yourself. Nobody asked you to have an abortion yet you'll fight them tooth and nail to stop them. That isn't your soul in danger nor is it your responsiblility. They did however ask to be able to have one when they wanted one without a moral brow beating beforehand.

Also Since we are the masters of our own selves wouldn't it be prudent to make sure that individuals and corporations run by these self same masters of self don't lie steal and cheat their way into corporate insolvency. Where I get to be involved it the bailouts through my tax money.

Can I also assume that you and your significant others have a traditional Catholic family of 10-12 children or have you used some form or another of Birth control. I'm betting on the later.

Of yourself does not include the individual life of the unborn CHILD within the womb who has the right to life liberty and happiness that they MUST be allowed to chace for themself.

We do not use birth control we use selfcontrol.

ID, how does a person "chace"? Merriam-Webster does not enlighten me. Do you invent words just to delight your readers?

If big money hadn't have gotten us into this mess, big bailouts would never have been needed.

I dunno....
The Supreme Court calls it a tax.
Obuma insists it ain't.

Smells like a duck, walks like a duck, and talks like a duck to me.....

It is a tax......another way of the government extracting money from the working public whether they like it or not.

They can call it what they like.... I still smell duck.

You WILL be assimilated.

White House claims ObamaCare fine a 'penalty,' despite court calling it a 'tax'

Mark, it is one of those 'look what I found' things. Faux news didn't think it was a tax either until Roberts told them it was.

But of course, the way some folks think is best to balance the budget:

1) Eliminate Medicaid
2) Privatize Medicare
3) Eliminate Duty of care if funds are not available
4) Bury the poor and elderly sooner
5) Social Security becomes solvent
6) The reduced cost to the government for health care, along with the
reduced cost to the states for health care and their pension plans balances government books all over the place.

It is called Republirationing. Those who can afford, get health care, those who can't afford health care get RepubliDeathPanelled. It would make Sara so happy.

Boy, you're not happy with anything that happens, are you? Now you're saying the Affordable Healthcare Act is Republirationing? Maybe you need to set up an appointment with your doctor and tell him you need to reduce your psychotropic prescription.

He did not say that. He said Republirationing is what the Repubs want.

Guy -- sorry, you misunderstood me (no surprise there) -- I'm suggesting that (when you are honest instead of sarcastic) you would rather see the sort of thing I outlined and THAT would be TeaPublicarationing.

I see that Dave figured that out.

Given that you have (in your Guy mode) made your position rather clear, when you post in your Guyopposite mode, it is rather clear as well.

Some might suggest the two posting modes reflect an internal conflict -- I don't see you as conflicted at all, you just see that Guyopposite mode as your mode of Teapublican humor.

Since folks who haven't seen your Guy honest mode might pop in over here, it is something that needs pointing out periodically when you post in sarcastic opposite mode.
