ID, seriously you ought to consider forming your own country - and only allow folks of like mind and take no compensation from any source that might be tainted by folks who don't absolutely agree with you.

My brand of Faith has nothing to do with this, within the Bible I am allowed to defend myself and family. This works for the Protestant as well. Please be better informed while speaking of the Bible. We have had this problem before.

How my I help you better? Is your problem content? Or is it reading for context. Or is logic that you have a problem with? If it's something other then I have listed please tell me so I may help you better.

Thank you for your time in this matter...

Genesis 9:5-6 5 And surely your blood, the blood of your lives, will I require; At the hand of every beast will I require it. And at the hand of man, even at the hand of every man's brother, will I require the life of man. 6 Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: For in the image of God made he man.

Ezekiel 33 "... 6 'But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, and the people are not warned, and a sword comes and takes a person from them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require from the watchman's hand.'

Exodus 20:13 You shall not murder.

Self-Defence is not murder...

Exodus 22:2-3 2 "If the thief is found breaking in, and he is struck so that he dies, there shall be no guilt for his bloodshed. 3 "If the sun has risen on him, there shall be guilt for his bloodshed.

Matthew 26:51-56 51 And suddenly, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. 52 But Jesus said to him, "Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. 53 "Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? 54 "How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?" 55 In that hour Jesus said to the multitudes, "Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs to take Me? I sat daily with you, teaching in the temple, and you did not seize Me. 56 "But all this was done that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled."

Martial terms... (Zec. 9:14, Psa. 7:13, 18:14, 21:12, 64:7, Hab. 3:11, Deu 32:42, 2 Sam 22:15).

Psalm 44:6-7 For I will not trust in my bow, Nor shall my sword save me. 7 But You have saved us from our enemies, And have put to shame those who hated us.

Armed but Trusting in God...
"Do not be afraid of them; remember the Lord who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.... 20 "At whatever place you hear the sound of the trumpet, rally to us there. Our God will fight for us."

Lethal force out of anger, hatred, jealously, or revenge is always wrong and is condemned by Scripture.
1 Samuel 25:32 And David said to Abigail, Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel, who sent thee this day to meet me: 33 and blessed be thy discretion, and blessed be thou, that hast kept me this day from bloodguiltiness, and from avenging myself with mine own hand.

No vigilantes.
Rom 12:19 Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord.

Do not admire the "man of violence".
Proverbs 3:31-32 Do not envy a man of violence, And do not choose any of his ways. 32 For the crooked man is an abomination to the LORD; But He is intimate with the upright.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Other then to be off topic what is your destination with this line of thought? Did you think you would find me hypocritical in the Bible?

How do you plan on moving your thoughts onto topic of this thread?

Did you think by finding fault in one part of my Faith that you could damn my whole line of thought? You have not.

Point in fact--Socialism has bankrupted every state and country that has ever embraced it.

Perhaps Milwaukee is a poor example for you.

How about Japan, Norway, Sweden, and now France.

It seems one could actually look something up before making blanket black and white statements.
from wikipedia

During the first half of the 20th century, Milwaukee was the hub of the socialist movement in the United States. Milwaukeeans elected three Socialist mayors during this time: Emil Seidel (1910–1912), Daniel Hoan (1916–1940), and Frank Zeidler (1948–1960), and remains the only major city in the country to have done so.

Often referred to as "Sewer Socialists," these Milwaukee Socialists were characterized by their practical approach to government and labor. These practices emphasized cleaning up neighborhoods and factories with new sanitation systems, city owned water and power systems, and improved education systems. Their influence began to dwindle in the late 1950s amidst the "red scare".

left 10 years ago, the city was fairly good for an older city. Unlike Detroit Milwaukees street were relatively safe to be on at night. The downtown area also had a vibrant night life. lets not forget that the socialists were pushed out over 60 years ago.

Yet we neglect to mention the nations that actively embrace socialism. That being said the soviet system was not socialism. That was nothing more than a series of brutal dictators.

Which countries have been destroyed because of capitalism? Answer, none.

So, that leaves all the others. China has embraced limited capitalism becuse what they did have would never have worked, never even made it 100 years. The old USSR fell.

As I said you just trade slave masters thats all.

And the question all along was, who is to be master, thats all.

The ones who have actively embrace socialism will in time, fall. Japan has been in gridlock for over 10 years now.

ID, my problem with you is the nihilistic dogma which you so eagerly embrace.
I am sure you will be fine with your gun and Bible when the socialist caused breakdown in western society comes and the forces of the gays come after you.

Well, thanks a bunch ID, you have a good day as well now.

Good thing I cling to my Bible and guns.

Well good for you, Granny Clampett would be proud of you.

It's just evolution "Survival of the fittest".

If there was ever a statement that you don't understand Darwin, that one says it all.

Several times you say just a thought. If you did a little bit of thinking, then maybe ,and in your case that has to be a big maybe, you might just realise how wrong you are.

Whenever people talk negatively about socialism, no one ever brings up Cuba. I think this may partly be because of the US' embargo...

But contrary to what you may have heard, there are not a ton of people beating down the doors to leave Cuba.

Perhaps this is why the one recent well known case (Elian Gonzalez) was so well documented.

They already have. It is forced in our public school system.

They teach our young in direct conflict with our Church Teachings.

They 'force' our children into public school by tax. No way to afford another choice for most people.

And all of this is forced apon everyone by both sides of that one bird flying in the wrong direction call Congress.

Im ready for the break down, are you?

Exlusive,

How can you say there are not a ton of people beating down the doors to leave Cuba and say it with a straight face?

And why do you think Cuba is laying off 1/2 a million government employees (85% of them) and privatizing 178 government job fields?

Answer: "The move to relax self-employment regulations is one of the decisions the country takes as it redesigns its economic policies to increase levels of productivity and efficiency."

Extra credit: Why do you think they want to increase productivity and efficiency?

Oh, Oh ,OH , me memememememememememem~! I have the answer! Call on me!

I wasn't trying to take this thread off topic with that statement. It was just a thought outside the box. (Cuba has issues with basic freedoms that Americans take forgranted, that I will not argue.)

Anyways to answer your question, I assume it's in order to be more competitive in a capitalist global economy. (Perhaps they know the private sector will be better at screwing it's employees, hence lowering costs?)

And none of what you said included the fact that their universal healthcare is better than much of our private healthcare plans.

And ID, I can agree with you somewhat <gasp>
The embargo only exists in theory, in actuality there is in fact much trade happening between the US and Cuba. Mainly for political reasons however.
