I am doing ok but I can see the horizon leveling at all levels. Spikeynorman for example will overtake me int he UK stakes in a few days ...I just cant have that. I orf to my computer store tomorrow to but another I7...problem is I cant move for CPU's around here. My girlfriend likes confort and quality time but checking what is ready to report sort of interupts the flow somewhat.

Things were fine when Badger watching was my hobby....I miss those days

Gpus are where You'll find the most bang for Yer Pound, Me I'm into Nvidia cards or in this case a card.

Yea, I see your issue friend. Unfortunately if you even want to begin compete with the big dawgs, you'll need to put out 10-30 times as much work as you currently are. :-)

Me, I have no "crunching" rig. I'm happy to contribute what I can, I don't even run seti@home anywhere near 100%. I just give a lil of my cpu, and that makes me happy.

If I had but money though, I could easily build myself a monster cruncher. :-)

(Id go with a dual processor Xeon server board with 2 X7s <grin>, 64Gigs of ram, and 3 or 4 Nvidia Teslas of the best breed. :-))

The above system would cost approx 7000$USD :-D

What she doesn't like your home cooked meals?

I'm an excellent cook and also an excellent driver !

So what is the problem? Are you a messy cook?
Snicker just asking. My son fits that category.

My Mom would have none of that, She could cook and had the ability to teach cooking too it seems, yeah some rubbed off on Me, I've only cooked a turkey once in My life, but could do that again if needed, I've even done meatloaf, even stew wouldn't be impossible, at least in theory, in practice I favor simpler meals these days, fish and fries for dinner w/ketchup or salt and eggs and sausage for breakfast...

Des....
Your problem might be related to the fact that you are running the stock apps.

You need to be a Lunatic.....

Thanks for the help and advice. Having an open tab at the bar certainly helped focus matters alot...I love a small sherry now and then.

I shall look into the Lunatic solution and but I have decided to commision the construction of a multi Xenon processor based system filled to the brim with Telsa cards. I intend to house the beast in a Perspex chamber with lighting effects. I will post a picture once it is fully operational.

My girlfriend has been great about my complex. She said having a massive RAC was unimportant and something else I dindt catch about personality and stuff. Anyways she has kindly suggested we spend less time together so I can complete the upgrade project....how kind is that.

Its a wonderfull life lol :)

Sounds like Des is in a happy place right now.......
Big cell with lots of wall outlets, high speed bandwidth, an unlimited line of credit with Newegg, and Seti padding.
