Hello,

I have a "fairly" powerful rig (for a personal machine). Core i7 970 Gulftown, 3xGTX480 so I thought why not let the machine do something useful when I'm not using it. Please bear with me as I know absolutely nothing about seti@home.

Question 1: If i can see things running, that means my machine is crunching, right?

Question 2: I've done a bit of searching but can't really figure this out. Is there any type of "visualizer" that I can install? The screensaver doesn't show anything other than the projects that are running.

I did find this in another thread:

Once the files have downloaded, you can see a graphical output by opening BOINC Manager, and if you're in the Advanced View, you can select the Tasks tab, then select an active task that is currently processing. Once you have selected an active task, on the left there will be a button that reads "Display graphics"; if you click on that, you'll be able to see a graphical representation of the work being done.

However, that button is always greyed out for me.

You're using your Fermi GPU's to process work. The screensaver/graphics won't work while you are doing so.

Understood. Since I'm running triple SLI, is there any way to dedicate two to compute and one to graphics?

Select an active (Running) CPU task (i.e. SETI@home Enhanced v6.03 task)
Then the "Display graphics" button will be active.

(the "SETI@home Enhanced v6.10 (cuda_fermi)" application have no graphics (screensaver) part)

1. You have an Intel Core i3 processor, which means you have a dual core with HyperThreading, making it 4 logical processors, not 8.
