LOL Jord. You should take a look at who's been testing those builds for him.!

That's the PPA that I've been using to test and report on each build he's done. Both him and Steffen from Debian are involved in this little adventure.

I don't recommend anyone use that ppa right now because we've been testing new builds every few hours, some work, some don't.

Ok now Jord's advice applies. We're done screwing with the ppa package.

The higher-ups at Ubuntu have the repository fix tied up in red tape. It could end up being awhile before we get a repository fix.

So the working 7.0.27 will for now be available in Ubuntu through "Locutus'" new "boinc development" PPA repository, since we're done testing, and just waiting for the standard repository to be fixed.

I'm posting this info here in this thread as well for Ubuntu 12.04 people:

I recommend Ubuntu users remove any manually installed boinc packages they have.
Also, do "sudo apt-get autoremove" if you have no manually installed packages.

To install a working Boinc 7.0.27:
Ubuntu 12.04 users can do (in a terminal):
sudo apt-get install python-software-properties
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:costamagnagianfranco/boinc
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install boinc

That's it. Boinc is installed. You should be able to find it by typing "boinc-manager" into unity's search. or through other methods I won't be covering here.

[this will also work for Oneric (11.10)]

And the direct link to the PPA webpage is here

Mod PLEASE lock this thread. :-) thanks

(I'll start another for Ubuntu when the repository version change happens, and we have a WORKING Boinc to sort out bugs on).

you'll need to click on the red X to make request to Moderators. They may not read all the posts and don't usually act without a red X first.

I have done this for you this time

Thanks Skill. But I know about the red X, and it had already been done.

Thanks, finally no errors. Looks like apt-get upgrade was sufficient for we.
