BOINC manages the tasks on its own. When a task says "ready to start", that means its awaiting CPU time. You'll notice that other tasks are marked "Currently in progress" or "Suspended" depending on your preferences.

The default preferences are usually best. I wouldn't change anything unless there's a good reason to.

You can't really. You can see candidates by looking for spikes and triplets in the two graphs, however, real signals are the result of finding similar signals at the same place in the sky on several nights. Most of the candidate signals are going to be terrestrial in origin and need to be weeded out.

Message 1223195 - Posted: 25 Apr 2012, 16:48:36 UTC

I just purchased a new computer. I had been running SETI at home for many years on the old computer, as part of a team at the University of Arizona. When I launch BOINC on the new computer, I get prompted to connect to a project and it asks for a URL and Account ID.

What do I put in these two boxes?

If you're using the latest version of BOINC, you should be able to select the project from a list. Selecting a project will auto-fill the correct URL.

For the User ID, enter that you're an existing user and use the same login you used to log into this website to post your question.
