I Upgraded Win7 Home to Pro to use both physical CPU's and did not read the thread concerning this procedure 1st(!!!) I now have two ID's for the same Workstation and the older ID is showing many jobs as timed out. Is there a way to retrieve the remaining WU's that have not timed out on that machine? AND is there a way to delete or deactivate the incorrect ID to prevent more jobs being sent to the incorrect ID or should I just wait for the "lump to go through the snake"? |

Work will only be sent to your client when it asks for it, so there won't be more work sent to the old hostID. You can try to merge the hostIDs, but this is only possible when the host has the same name. You change the name in Windows->Start->Control Panel->System and Security->System->Change settings on "Computer name, domain and workgroup settings". |

you probably have those files in a folder Windows created called windows.old You'd have to run those WU's from that file since you've already created a new BOINC folder. You might be able to move the folders from the windows.old and run them in your new build. In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

You might be able to move the folders from the windows.old and run them in your new build. I couldn't find the files in windows.old, I thought I had completed all WU's in the cue before I did the upgrade. I set NO NEW TASKS and let the cue complete, then I did the upgrade and upgraded BOINC to 7.0.25. I see I didn't name the computer the exactly the same so I'm trying the merge by name route after renaming the new system the same. Live and Learn, thanks for the help and Stay Thirsty my Friends. |

Well merge by name didn't work I surmise due to the Incompatible processor advisory. With Pro it shows 4 processors and 2 with Home. I guess I'll just learn to live with it. Hopefully it won't affect future WU's on this machine. |

numbers are just that. numbers. If you've completed all your old work then I wouldn't worry about it In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

Please, ever since I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate, I have not been seeing my graphic display. Even though I can see the program running in the background, I do not see the graphic display. PLEASE help me. Never ever post your email address in such legible form in the forums, there's a lot of spam bots (and humans) reading here as well. Now then, the screen saver and graphics use OpenCL 1.0; your videocard drivers need to be able to do that. When you use the drivers that Windows installed for it, then these drivers lack things like the OpenGL components (and CUDA for Nvidia, CAL for ATI/AMD and OpenCL for all), because these are direct competitors to products that Microsoft has (DirectX, Direct Computing). So you will need to install drivers from the manufacturer of the GPU on your videocard. Do you know the make and model of your videocard in that system? You can use a DirectX Diagnostics to check for some details: Start->in Search type dxdiag and hit Enter. Click the Display tab, then note down what it says for Device name and manufacturer. Post that info somewhere around here. |

1. Never post your email address on the internet if you don't want spam. 2. Your issue is not the same as the original poster's issue, so you should have created a new topic. Have you tried checking your screen saver settings to make sure BOINC is still selected as the active screen saver? |

My email address is [email address deleted]. Please, ever since I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate, I have not been seeing my graphic display. Even though I can see the program running in the background, I do not see the graphic display. PLEASE help me. It is entirely possible that you are now able to use your Graphics card for computations. This greatly increases the speed of processing, but disallows the screen saver from displaying the graphics of the screen saver. BOINC WIKI |
