But the kitties seem to be holding onto their kibble caches OK so far....

Snafu. It's Friday after all. A weekend with a fully working SETI system, is unheard of.

Prepare for empty caches and tears.

LOL

i hope not...for the sake of those who are participating in the SETI Gauntlet AND have minimal work buffers. fortunately i've been able to cache up to 800 tasks recently, and still have ~700 left in the queue, so that'll more than take me through the weekend...

Downloads for the past 2 weeks for me have been either instant retries or screaming fast speeds.

I can't wait to get PaddyM up and running to solve this mess.

I too am hoping PaddyM will improve things.

I have had very few download retries since switching to 7.0.25 seven days ago and uploads have been more of a problem. I have 208.68.240.13 boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu in my hosts file.

The current upload issue started at 15:30 UTC and it's getting worse and now several retries is usual on both my systems.

How long, oh Lab, until you judge us worthy and honor our sacrifices by pouring your work units onto the Earth?

...and the gathered multitudes, believers and doubters, quietly bowed their heads and responded as one in doleful prayer, "Amen."

Matt's back in the office next week so I'd expect to see some progress on the PaddyM front.

We still need to figure out if the SATA card will work and if not we'll need to provide another 3ware card w/ battery backup to get everything hooked up.

I have .18 in my hosts file and downloads seem to be the one problem I don't have. My i7 just downloaded 2 new units about 20 minutes ago, but it's still down to 261 in progress. I'll be home soon and see if I can fiddle with the cache settings.

At the moment I am getting Scheduler request failed: Timeout was reached at least 75% of the time. A download of 20 WUs just took 27 seconds but the next 20 all went into backoff after 3 seconds. I hope it's not going to be like this all weekend. I have just got over 100 WUs, all shorties...

I look forward to your telling us if they need something to get the servers working. As advertised.

I have just started my daily downloads and something is very wrong. I have had more backoffs in the last 30 minutes than the whole of the previous week. I tend to feel the current servers are Cream Crackerered and look forward to PaddyM coming on-line. Over the past week I started to wonder why I implemented SIV Auto Retry, now I remember!

With the SETI Gauntlet running, there is approx another 20-30% load on the download servers/bandwidth.

It should calm down a bit in about 10 days.

Hopefully we won't need anything, but we'll see.

Once we get the specs, we should have something that'll help downloads and uploads a bit.

I think that is debatable....
There are 243 users participating in the Gauntlet, some of us whom were already crunching Seti full time.

That could not possibly have much of an additional impact on the servers, much less 20-30%.........

The Gauntlet contest has little to do with it, in my estimation.

True. The current shorty storm will have a much bigger impact.
