I took the Bernina Express from Tirano to St.Moritz and I don't remember passing on this bridge, So it must be the other one. Tullio |

This church, said to be a Bramante design, has two names. One is the Saint to which it is dedicated, the second refers to a characteristic of its architecture. Name the locality. Tullio |

Somewhere in the Alps? No, but the surroundings host many rocks used by freeclimbers. |

Without even looking, olive trees and cypress, I'll guess Italy. |

Hey at least I nailed the area somewhat. Have you climbed it? I am too old to climb. I have followed the trails which lead to the rocks and chatted with climbers, also Austrian, German English,Swiss and French, including a guide from Chamonix. I have a niece in Chamonix and he knew her, in a small city everybody knows each other. |

Hint: the church is dedicated to the Madonna di Loreto, who is the Saint Protector of Italian airmen, since Her home has flown from Palestine to Loreto (so the legend goes, at least). Oddly enough, the Comune on which the church is located hosts also an Italian Aero Industry, partly because in the Thirties it made hydroplanes, which could be launched directly into the sea. Hint: has anybody heard the whining sound of a P180 turboprop aircraft passing overhead? Its engines are fabricated in this locality. Tullio |
